thumbnail for The Central LibraryDenver Public Library, Central Branch, 5th floor, western geneology...by far my favorite area in the library (and it is HUGE!) The 5th floor is quiet, there are windows everywhere (and the view is pretty cool, especially at night,) there are tables if you need to sprawl out and study, and there are comfy chairs if you just want to relax and read. If you are interested in the history of the west, they have some awesome artifacts and displays on this floor that are always changing. #LocalBooks

thumbnail for Civic Center ParkCivic Center Park hosts a variety of festivals and outdoor events during the spring and summer months. This is a photo was taken at exactly 4:20pm during the 2011 4/20 Rally. If you have never attended one of these, its quite an experience! And smoking marijuana is not a requirement for attendance, so don't worry if you're not a smoker..this rally is about bringing about awareness in the community and educating people about marijuana (such as how/why it is used, possible and proven health benefits, how it compares to traditional western medicine, the legality of it & what we can do as a community to change unfair laws regarding it.) The Denver Police come out to this rally in mass every year (to help keep the peace-though people here rarely disrupt it, and to help protect the rights of the supporters of the rally.) April 20th at 4:20pm is the one time during the year when it is socially (and legally) acceptable for 1000's of people to gather in front of the state capitol and all light up and smoke together. I've seen the cloud of smoke so thick that the capitol building is barely even visible through it! The sense of togetherness and community on this day is simply amazing! #CapitolHill #GoldenTriangle

For those who have not been out to experience this one (as a rider or a bystander,) it is quite a sight & definitely something to check out! The event is typically held in July and is a 10-mile non-competitive late night bicycle ride that runs from around 8pm till about 2am. With the support of the City of Denver and the Denver Police Department, the course is closed to automobile traffic allowing participants to ride safely on city streets. It begins and ends at the Colorado State Capitol, taking cyclists through Denver’s historic neighborhoods, including the business district, Lower Downtown, Congress Park, and the Cherry Creek shopping district! Participants are benefitting the InnovAge Foundation to help increase awareness and support of programs that allow aging individuals to live independently and with dignity in their own homes and communities. #CapitolHill #GoldenTriangle #Uptown #LoDo #BakerNeighborhood #LincolnPark
