This hotel has the potential to be a four star hotel. I actually will give the customer service 5 stars, including the Valet staff, who were very accommodating. The gentleman who checked us in was superb. They had flowers and champagne waiting in the room for my wife's birthday. They upgraded our room and we were initially pleased with the size and decor. We got ready and headed to the pool to have a quick dip in the jacuzzi and much to our surprise there was no hot tub! That is a first. They also don't offer a Continental breakfast which I think is a standard when your on vacation. The bed was large, however after 2 nights it was very uncomfortable...not to mention the non stop sirens at niight, so my wife and I were exhausted and ready to go home and get a good night's sleep. The shower had the standard no water pressure. We liked the location, and I think with some renovations this could be an amazing hotel. Again, customer service was top notch , we received VIP service and we are far from VIP.
I booked two rooms for a bachelorette party and they messed up my reservation. It took a long time to check in and I was promised a gift basket in the room waiting for us and there was not one. About an hour after going back and forth with management, they gave my room a credit towards breakfast to make up for it. The room did not meet my expectations either, somewhat out dated and not what was described to me over the phone.
I stay at this Marriott Courtyard three or four days every year. Location is superb for sporting events at Safeco or the football stadium. Rooms are clean, sufficient in size and well appointed. Staff are cheerful, helpful and courteous. Free high speed internet is reliable. Free airline check-in terminals and boarding pass printers in lobby are a nice amenity and convenience. My only suggestion is that they update the cardio equipment in the fitness center. As of summer 2013, my last visit, the treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes were very outdated, in need of service and the audio and video connections were snowy and intermittent. The fitness center is definitely not at the same level of quality as the rest of the hotel and it would take little cost to avoid this flaw in an otherwise great hotel experience.
I expect a lot from a hotel of this caliber in such a large city. This did not disappoint. It was expensive, but you get what you pay for, and you get a lot here. The staff is top notch and very knowledgeable of their city. The is no room service, that I was aware of. However, the restaurant served a awesome burger. Valet parking is (almost) mandatory, and a little on the steep side. But, there is no other place to park. If you don't pay for valet, park in Tacoma.
I am a regular traveler to Seattle and this is my favorite hotel in the city! Granted, I am a Marriott guy and have only stayed a few non-Marriott's in Seattle. Staff is great. The hotel is in a historic building with a lot of character. I seem to get a different room layout every time I go - all great. Great location with lots of good restaurants and pubs around.
