A new security system was installed at Irongate Apartments in July, 2014. Some residents are not electronically savvy and have no understanding of how it all works. If you are a friend who takes such a person on errands or to church you may be in for a frustrating time of it. The lady we try to help told us to call her (on her land phone) and she presses "9" and the gate will open. She has no key- card as the card was given to her legal conservator. She has no way of figuring out how to get back in the gate if she is in a visitor's car and thus not in her home to press "9". The office was of no help to me when I called and bordered on rudeness. Several other residents of Irongate whom we know were also of no help because they just depend on their key-cards. Well, what if they were to lose the card or forget to take it with them? There is a way, I hope, and residents should be secure in knowing how to work the gate in any personal emergency.
