Redwood Park was a great fit for our needs. They allowed month-to-month lease (important since we were only in town for seasonal work) and the location was nearby our work and many things. The apartments were nice and kept up well. We received new carpet before moving in. Pool, hot tub, playground, onsite laundry, etc all very nice. While everything about the apartment itself was great, we did have some issues with management and communication. When we applied for the apartment, we secured it over the phone and mailed in our check to hold the apartment. Didn't hear anything from them afterward, assumed all was fine. Two weeks later we walked in the office to check on everything and were told "I don't know what you're talking about", the employee we worked with had since left, they had "lost our paperwork in the shuffle" and rented the apartment to someone else. Long story short, they eventually managed to dig up our check and stated that we would get the apartment after all. Though the whole time, the employee Mariah who dealt with it acted as though we were a complete hassle and as though it were our fault that all this had happened somehow. Poor service. Both our check-in and move-out walk throughs were scheduled ahead of time. However, we had to call the office both times after no one showed up at the appointed time. Again told "I don't know what's going on with that, I'll have to get back to you." Poor communication. Finally, after providing our written move-out notice, we were given a form of all the things we needed to clean before moving out, and a list of all the things they could potentially charge us for. I thought, "Great, this is really clear and well written." As it turns out, that was far from the case. The form clearly states: "Move-out cleaning instructions: Carpet thoroughly vacuumed and all spots removed. If resident has failed to maintain the upkeep (ie. stains, spots, tears) we will charge for carpet shampoo as follows." When we left, the carpet was vacuumed and the maintenance man who did our check-out even commented on how good the carpet looked, no stains (obviously, since it had just been put in two months before.) Somehow that did not stop Redwood Park from charging us $165 to shampoo the carpet (over half of our deposit not returned, not to mention $100 for a light clean for soap scum in the shower). Their reasoning was that the carpet was cleaned when we moved in, and this is standard procedure for apartments in the area. Had they indicated that on their move-out cleaning instructions, I would have no issue. However, their form is clearly intended to mislead. Long story short, GREAT apartments. TERRIBLE communication. You should definitely live here! Just don't expect to get your deposit back.
Vaulted ceilings, nice touch.
