The Pavilion on Berry, formerly Jefferson at Berry, was one of the worst places I have lived during my college experience. Their "luxury" apartments with "awesome features" (tanning, cable, internet) at low prices is simply a lure to get you in and start paying fees and unnecessary charges. This manipulative establishment will have your parents wondering where your loan money is going before you even get your apartment keys. Let's start with parking. First, be prepared for door dings, crappy parking jobs, and tight squeezes because the parking spaces here will barely fit a smart car. Park next to anyone or close to any entrance and you can expect to experience disappointment anytime you go out to your vehicle. Also, did I mention that their parking rent is $80/month? This is the cost of most underground parking stalls in the metro area, but instead your vehicle will be subject to all of nature's forces and you can expect to be forced to comply with their ridiculous snow removal expectations at least twice a month. Next, expect the outrageous fees to continue if you want to have a pet at your apartment. For only $500 you can bring your cat or dog but you must make sure it fits some pretty specific requirements. Just think of the requirements you have to fulfill when bringing a bag onto an air plane (size restrictions, unopened 3oz containers in a one quart ziplock bag) and you get the point. Finally, my favorite part of living here... the endless threats. Do this and you will be fined, do that and you will be fined, park here and you will be fined, be seen doing this and you will be fined. My roommates and I once received a letter beneath our door that was addressed directly to (insert roommates names here). The letter warned us that if we continued to dispose of an excess amount of cigarette butts on the ground beneath our balcony that we would be fined. What's wrong with this letter? First, we lived on the top (4th) floor of the building, and second, none of us smoked anything while we were living there. If this didn't turn you away from living here, know this, I was charged a final amount totaling nearly $450.00 after I had moved out for "damage costs." They determined that they would need to repaint the entire bedroom and replace the carpeting. In my opinion, total joke. I'm a tidy female that made sure to take care of both the walls and floors in my apartment. I even magic-erasered every wall and shampooed the carpet before turning in my keys. So, if you do decide that the low rent cost and convenient location of The Pavilion on Berry are right for you, make sure you don't have a car, don't want a pet, don't live above smokers, don't touch the walls or carpets in your bedroom, and don't complain when you are charged hundreds more dollars than you ever deserved to pay.
