Lived there for a year: 1-Excellent location 2-Security 3-Coffee shop in the ground floor 4-New granite counter tops,,,,and windows with no leakage when raining,,or snowing,, A good place ,if one is a temporary visitor,,,especially if u were by yourself with no mates/family. Cons: Very small fridge is very small too sink if used gets clogged so u better not cook at home regardless of having 4 burners !! the sink will make your life miserable,,,but its suitable for people who work out a lot. Had an electricity black out during 3 winter storms! ,electricity was fixed 7 hours later but the heating was not back till the second day,it was hell of a day ! Management is helpful,,,but that was when Melinda was there,,, the only thing is that they are always busy and full with people. I'd live there if I ever returned to Cleveland as a temporary visitor NOT A PERMANENT ONE!
Me and my gf have been living on the 2nd floor for about a year and a half now.Its not all bad. There is a really nice coffee shop downstairs and a laundromat which is super-convenient. Also, the fitness room and free cable and wifi are nice bonuses as well. However, during this time, we have had to be exterminated 3 times, the ac unit in our apartment flooded, weve had numerous encounters with the terrible (and half-assed) security guards who are practically begging to be fired (the old one in particular), and have had 2 bicycles stolen out of the provided room in back. On top of that, our bathroom also flooded as well as our sinks, and i have come to find out through chats with my neighbors that we are paying several dollars more in rent than some other tenants with the same size apartment. Currently, we are on our 3rd manager (in a year and a half), and the elevator nearest our door has been out of commission for over a month. We received no prior warning when they redid the parking lot (they posted little signs on the doors afterwards to cover their asses), and not to mention that some of the neighbors have terrible and LOUD taste in music, which of course why would they ever do anything about that? Oh, not to mention that joke of a 'game room' is 2 paid pool tables that are missing all the balls.oh, but there is one functioning arcade machine in there, if you feel like wasting quarters. Im reading a lot of other reviews from a couple years ago and im seeing a lot of patterns with how our experience has gone as well. Overall, its kind of a maintenance hell. But the price is good and there are some nice benefits, if you can bear with it.
I have lived at University Studios for almost a year now and there hasn't been a moment that I haven't loved it. The apartments may be on the small side but they're cozy and everything is new and updated which is nice. The staff is absolutely wonderful and very understanding. They're always helpful and so friendly. The building is very secure so feeling unsafe is never an issue. Free parking is wonderful and though it may get crowded at times I have never had a problem finding a parking spot. The new gym and game room is a nice touch and I can't wait for the coffee shop downstairs to be finished. Then this building will be perfect! I would definitely recommend this building to anyone who is looking for a nice apartment downtown. You can't beat the price and the location is great! john yacovella apt 625
Very unprofessional management!!! Office manager " Jasmin" has no authority . she is nothing but a answering service and her superviser "Melanie" and the superviser manager "Michael" are never in !!!! its not just that !! its over priced!! Starting $600 for the smallest unit they have with all the disadvantages., like the free WIFI internet that they offer is soo poor in Signal that you cant even use your computer. the Suites are very small . bathrooms have no ventilation!! the kitchenette is not useable . there is a 10" wide sink that you cant even wash a pot there and mini frige that doesn't even cool any thing down. if you rent you have to just microwave your food or eat out! in Winter the apartments are cold you need to use a space heater but every apartments has just 20 Amp total so you can have your space heater and microwave and your TV on the same time ! if you rent on north sude of the building The HWY noise is unbearable and you cant sleep!! if you have apartments on south side the street noise and the gate will keep you up!! i havent seen bedbugs . but i heard some units they have!! the first floor is clean . but bad smell is killing you in elevators..
I have lived in this place for a year, and was also tricked by the low rent with 'everything included', the seemingly new finishes, etc. I was even alright with the tiny space (~400 sqft) and mini-fridge. However, it was a huge mistake. HUGE. When moving into the unit, which is not the sample apartment they show you, I found out I was on the 2nd floor, staring into a building office building, not the 5th floor as promised. I was told that the 5th floor unit "was not ready for move in yet", and I was duped signing the lease without a room number because they had several units on that floor that were in the process of being remodelled, and I would be moving into the first one ready. Unfortunately, if I didn't move in to this apartment, I would be homeless, so I put my head down and dealt with it. Upon inspection, I noticed the counter of the bathroom to be falling down and not sealed to the molding, there was a hole in the wall where the thermostat used to be, and my air conditioner did not work. One year later, the only thing that has been repaired is the air conditioner, despite hounding the office multiple times. One month later, I got home from vacation to see they had changed my locks without informing me, causing me to be locked out for an entire weekend, where I had to pay for a hotel. The apology I received? Sorry, we are doing this to the whole building. No refunding my money for which I could not access my apartment. You'd think that was bad enough, but only another month later, there was a backup in the sewer that caused my toilet and bathtub to overflow all over my apartment. With sewage. And when I call for emergency maintenance at 2 am, I am told there is nothing they can do about it at that time, and they will come have a look at it in the morning. As my apartment filled with sewage. Obviously this is ridiculous, so I demanded to move apartments immediately, but I was told my lease was for this unit only. When I asked how soon this would be fixed, I was told they have "one month to fix any issues with the apartment according to the lease". So I had to move in with a friend for 2 weeks as they got this problem solved. At this point, I was told they hadn't fixed the problem, but they left a valve open that would flood into the entry way (away from 2 other entry doors). That's right, my apartment was flooded because it saved the entry way from being flooded. And instead of apologizing and seeing what could be done to help me through this, I was told "this is why we require you to have renters insurance, so take this up with them". Aside from these issues, I have had my apartment's power shut off multiple times by construction crews who work late into nights, noisy neighbors who security does not respond to, and the parking lot has fewer spaces then tenants, despite 3 prime spots being reserved 24/7 for "(god save them) future tenants" and another 5 for guests. I cannot more adamantly tell you to avoid this place. Please.
