I lived here back in 2009-2010, I really loved these apartments. Nothing extremely fancy about them, but no problems. I had two dogs, the management was super pet friendly and no one ever complained. I transferred apartments one time because of issues with the downstairs tenant (nothing serious, but having dogs on the second floor always generates noise complaints) and it was quickly resolved. I loved the second apartment even more because it was upgraded. I thought the size was great for the price, tons of closet space. There was a bug issue once but maintenance was quick to solve it. Overall, great apartments to live in and nice location, convenient to everything and close to new circle.

We moved here in Aug. 2010, and we absolutely LOVE it. We live in a first-floor 2BR unit and have 2 small children. SPACE: Our apt. is 1050 sq.ft. and there's a LOT of room and closet space. The bedrooms are good-sized and the full bath is spacious. The kitchen is a bit small, but if you're creative, you can make things fit. MAINTENANCE: I cannot say enough good things about their maintenance crew. They are prompt and thorough. The head guy, Mike, said he was hired here not long before we moved in, and he REALLY knows his stuff. He makes sure repairs are done properly, and is GREAT about communicating (e.g. if there's a delay with your repair and he can't do it on the day he originally said, he'll stop by and let you know when he can). BUILDINGS: According to Mike, the complex is about 30 years old. Some have newer fixtures, some don't; they try to update & improve the units as they become available, especially if the previous tenant had lived there awhile. (Ours had new carpet when we moved in.) The buildings are good and sturdy and well-insulated. NOISE: The apartments are surprisingly quiet. Unless you're in the hall or right by your door, you usually can't hear the sounds from the other apartments. We're in a bottom apartment, and the only sounds we hear from above are vibration-related sounds (e.g. a subwoofer, children running), and the creaks and squeaks of the upper subfloor as people walk around (but it's not like you can hear each individual step). Those kinds of noises can't really be helped in an apartment. However, we don't hear any yelling, crying, or playing from young children upstairs. (I didn't even realize the family had a baby until 5 months after the fact, because I never heard any crying!) GROUNDS: The grounds are simple, not overly-landscaped, but attractive, well-maintained, and well-lit at night. PARKING: non-assigned and plenty of parking. We live next to the road, so there's on-street parking as well. STAFF: very pleasant, helpful, and informative AMENITIES: not luxurious, but they're nice: clean laundry facilities, two or three grill/picnic areas, 2 tennis courts, a pool (clean and well-maintained), and a basketball goal. Water and trash utilities are covered, so you only have to pay for electric. LOCATION: excellent. We have 1 car, so it's great to be within walking distance of the bus line, stores, restaurants, doctors' offices, a park, and a library. There are plenty of sidewalks and places to walk or ride your bike; the neighborhood is safe and nice. SUMMARY: absolutely excellent for the price.

I moved in August 2009 and have been here almost a year. The management here was new when I moved in and they do a great job. This is the fourth apartment I've lived in and the management here is the best I've ever had. My maintenance requests are dealt with in a timely manner and they are nice and fair about leasing information. The neighborhood is quiet. A large portion of residents are employees of the hospital across the street. There are several police officers that live here. I've never had or hear a domestic disturbance(which were quite common at other places I've lived for this cheap). There is a Krogers, Wal-mart, a large park with a fishing lake, movie theater, and more restaurants than I can count all within a 5 min drive. There are not a ton of amenities at this complex, but the apartments are huge for the cost. The Tennis Courts are actually in good shape(unlike some apartments I've seen), but the 'basketball court' is more of one junky goal stuck next to some pavement. The pool is nothing special, but it is a pool. I wouldn't mind a volleyball court or a larger pool, but not if those things would raise my rent. You won't find a bigger & better apartment for the price in Lexington without moving into a bad neighborhood. Look at the square footage of these vs. the square footage or similar priced apartments and you'll see what I'm talking about. They also have a ridiculous amount of closets (I have alot of crap for storage). If you are looking for something luxurious(and more pricey) in the area, try the Racquet club or Raintree (Raintree has much smaller apartments though). For those who want good size and great management on a budget, I highly recommend Cove Lake.
