Compared to other Maryland state colleges, Towson is in a good location. The cost of living is a bit higher but if you are a student looking for off campus housing then The Woods is acceptable. I currently live here in a one bedroom and I am happy with my living conditions. As with all college apartments it is somewhat run down but my one bedroom is clean, everything works or has been fixed upon my move in, and relatively peaceful. I understand that some of the bigger apartments with multiple tenants might be worse due to the tendency for those renters to party but you get what you pay for. I have looked around and there is no perfect place for a low price. If you want a nice upscale urban apartment that's like "Mommy and Daddy's" then you should be willing to shell out the money the same way that your parents must to live the way they do. The Towson Woods is the poster child for "Off-Campus Housing".
It depends what you're here for. I've been living here for almost 6 months. Honestly, I have been nice and respectful to all the employees here, and they have not once treated me poorly. Also, whenever I ask for something to be fixed, it is done within a day or two. The downside (depending on your perspective) to me is the partying. This complex has a lot of parties basically Wednesday/Thursday - Sunday. While I still am in college, I have past that whole "party hardy" attitude a while ago. There is a lot of trash on the ground after every weekend from the parties, but especially when the weather is nicer out, its picked up every Monday morning. My biggest complaints are the other college students that treat this place with no respect, and have no respect for others in the building. But considering I knew that this had a heavy college population here, I wasn't expecting too much to begin with. Yes, the kitchen is a little out dated, but everything works, and it gets the job done. A one bedroom apartment is very spacious, more than enough for me, and I am quite satisfied with how much I pay for this place. On top of it, they gave me 9 month lease, which fits into school perfectly. I think a lot of these reviews are bad because there are college students coming from mommy and daddy's house, with all the newest, and best appliances and they had an idea of what it "should" be like, and then when they get here, and things aren't done exactly when they need it, or isn't exactly how they pictured it, they are up set. The main office is their model apartment when there are no apartments available. It is a very accurate representation of what to expect when you go into your own. If you're expecting Gold, and you get Pyrite (fools gold) obviously you'll be upset, but if you're expecting Pyrite, and you get anything better, you'll always be happy.
