I have been a tenant since October and upon reading the reviews here want to offer my side. Let's start with the cons, shall we, since there are so many listed in previous reviews - Guys, this is a cheap apartment. That's why I moved here, obviously. The rent CANNOT be beat and water is included. The interior of my apartment is a little old, yes - but it's not decaying. There are small cracks in the walls and ceiling and I think I'm losing some heat to be honest, but not enough to matter. You're getting what you pay for, and at the same time, it's not that dirty or dingy, or as depressing as others make it out to be. Whenever I have had an issue we have gotten maintenance to take care of it fairly quickly! The ONLY issue with that was a matter of, well, kind of just stupid misunderstanding - when we first moved in we could NOT find the cable outlet to hook up our internet modem. Staff insisted it was there and seemed a bit put out by us saying it wasn't. Well, the remodelers had literally WALLED over it in between the last tenants and us moving in so really I can understand their frustration with us thinking we just couldn't find it. As soon as they realized what had happened they had someone in to fix the issue and I had my internet up and running that night. I have had roaches ONCE since moving in, after leaving some dirty dishes out a few days - my fault entirely!!! I know because since I have kept my kitchen clean every day, I have not seen very many bugs! I do every now and then, but not roaches, and man, wherever you live, even if you have your own, splendid, large and perfect house, you're gonna have a few bugs fly/get in every now and then. As for people complaining of noise - I NEVER HEAR PLANES flying over from indoors. Ever. And yes, kids do wander a bit unattended at night sometimes which is a bit annoying when they're right outside my window as I'm on the bottom floor, but they're never screaming or anything. As for the STRAY PACKS OF ANIMALS it's just cats!!!! And they stay clear of you anyways, they're afraid. So no issues there. Anyone who complains about the cats is a sad human being who just wants to complain. They don't do anything at all to get in anyone's way. Sometimes, there is trash in the parking lot and that gets to me. I have found fourty bottles next to my car. That is a problem of other tenants of course and the staff DO make efforts to go around and clean up! They do a good job. Now, the pros! I have never once felt threatened here! I am a young white woman, not very intimidating at all, and I have never felt threatened in any way, or sexually. Everyone I've met in my building is very, very nice. There is one special needs man is always polite and never asks for anything, and most of the other tenants keep to themselves honestly. The staff are fairly kind and respond to my issues fairly quickly. They pick up the place and take care of business. People can say the apartments are trashy; y'all, they're just old. They maintain them the best they can and you get good value for the rent you pay, with water included. I WILL SAY THIS TO ROUND OUT THE REVIEW - we've had issues with our utility bill the past couple of months, it has tripled. We are currently speaking with NES (Nashville electric service) to reread our meter and figure out the issue as there is literally no way our electric bill is as much as it is. We work 8-6 each day and leave the heat on 70 constantly, unplug all appliances when we are gone, and only have one single light on and the tv in the evenings when we are home. We don't have any reason to believe this has anything to do with South Brook but will be investigating the matter fully and reporting back here.

I've lived at this apartments complex for two years now. At first when I moved in... the hallways were nice, people didn't seem to be a problem, and I felt safe. Now, the hallways smell and the walls are covered with dirt and old food. There have been multiple car breakins, robberies, and policeman seem to be around the complex a lot these days. The apartments are so old that they are hard to keep clean, and it feels very dark and dingy inside. If you want a good nights sleep forget about it. Whether it's people yelling at random times at night, or possibly a crack head knocking on the door asking for a cigarette (yes that's happened before) or even my schizophrenic neighbor sitting outside my door and laughing for no reason (yes this has also happened)...just don't count on sleeping well. I live across from a different complex that seems to have Fiestas every night. And when I say fiestas...I mean a DJ with a moon bounce palace for all their children. And hey, if fiestas aren't enough for you sometimes you can hear some karaoke at seven in the morning. DID I MENTION THE ROOSTER. Oh yes. There is a rooster living in one of the apartments across from us in a yard. It crows every 30 seconds, I kid you not. Aside from the fiestas, there are random packs of stray animals that roam outside and sometimes in the parking lot. Did I mention that these apartments are right near the airport. I seriously woke up thinking an airplane was going to fly into my apartment. It's loud. What else can I say about these charming apartments? Oh, don't count on having neighbors you know and trust because they are evicted within a couple months. Also, It's always nice to have family over and someone decides to spray paint outside the building all over with tags and graffiti right before they visit. Another thing is all the unattended children roaming the parking lots and hallways. Can I even count the times where I have almost run over children in the parking lot? It's a game to see who can run in front of my car and scare me to death. The parents work and don't make their kids go to school so that becomes another problem. Kids asking me to come into my apartment, asking for food or to play with my cats. The only thing I will say that southbrook has going for them is their staff. They have been tentative to whatever has come up and they are friendly and seem to be very prompt when I have issues. So if you're reading this, Thank you. I hope they pay you enough for all the BS you have to deal with on a daily basis. But I have to say, Thank you Southbrook. Truly never a dull moment,

We went on a tour of the property. The staff in the office was very friendly and the cookies were a plus. They office is very appealing with alot of fliers regarding events and opportunities in the community. We toured the 2 bedroom model and was most impressed by the storage/closet space. It truly is a decent sized apartment. There is laundry facilities on the property as well as a pool and basketball/play area. I believe she said there are 230 units on the property. We were most struck (pleased with) the multiple entrances. I liked that the parking lot/driveway does not loop all the way around the complex. This complex is right off the freeway in a business loop area. It is also directly next to other apartments (Dominion House) but there is a continuous gate that divides the two. Though other reviews weren't great about this place.. we wanted to see for ourselves and we know that touring and living there are two different things.. We liked the freeway accessibility and decided to check it out anyways..

This place is awful. My car was broken into and management wouldnt do anything about it (not even clean up the glass in the parking lot), many thugs walking around at night, people getting robbed at gunpoint, maintenance that cannot fix anything, rude and racist management, dirty pool, washing machines stealing your quarters, not enough parking spaces for visitors (they will boot your car if you dont park in 3 designed spaces for visitors...three????). I have lived there many many many years and its only getting worse. They need new management that will care about people and their needs. Oh, and guess who wrote a few of these positive comments about south crook? Yes, the management. STAY AWAY FROM SOUTH BROOK!!!

I went to look at the apartments here...new to Nashville from Buffalo. The staff was so friendly and well maintained apartments. I want to go on the waiting list for one!
