Not a current resident but have visited this location several times as I have a friend who lives here. The biggest problem with this apartment complex is the parking situation. If you live here and plan on having visitors, don't. Residents are told not only by the management, but by their private towing company one thing, and then shown another. We were told that a visitor must have a visitor pass to park on site and then can park at a spot in the parking lot. Unfortunately at 3am in the morning when I walked out to a missing car and empty parking spot, I found out that I had been misinformed. I did not park in a no-parking zone, double park, or commit any other parking violations and was following instructions exactly as I was told, yet had my car towed at 3am without warning. When I contacted both the towing company and apartment management, I was told that it was because my car was not parked in a visitor's spot. This would be understandable if there were more than 2 visitor spots to each apartment building. (So I guess over 20 residents in each building have to play rock, paper, scissors to decide who can have a visitor that day). When I discussed the unfairness of what had occurred with both the towing company and management, I was not helped. I guess if you're visiting anyone in this apartment complex and you find that all of their two visitor spots are taken, you must turn around and go all the way back where you came from, even if you have a parking pass. That, or risk being towed and throwing $200 down the drain. In summary, if you are considering living at this apartment complex and you have at least 1 friend or anyone at all who may visit, don't.
I hate this place I wouldn't recommend anyone to move here they dnt care about your safety
I lived at Gateway Gardens for only a year, I moved not because of anything they did or the area, but personal reasons. My personal experience has to be better than most after reading others responses. I lived in building 4283 and it is located all the way in the back. My building neighbors were not older or really young but a decent age where they respected the fact we had jobs to go too in the morning. I never had my car or apartment broken into while living there. The only real issues I think I had was the laundry facility was in the basement, the front of the building does not face the parking lot, and parking. Otherwise I was good. The friendly people in the rental office always greeted everyone by name. I am not their friend but they were very friendly to me. I was always greeted with a smile by Brian, Alysia (sp), Secret, and Desmond (when he worked weekends). I enjoyed my experience and most reviews are based on that persons personal experience. Good luck and Happy apartment shopping!!!!
I have lived many places, this place takes the cake for the most disorganized complex.
I have been here for 1 yr now, the management was exceptionally good specially Germane and Donald. The parking spaces get full sometimes, but they are working towards it by making new parking policies, the swimming pool is very clean. Nice neighbours, clean play area for kids, it is close to DC, utilities are included in the rent, spacious rooms, maintenance people are very quick and efficient....what else can you ask for?
