I have to agree with the other reviewers. If there was an option for 0 stars I would have selected that as well. When I first moved in, the place was owned by a different company, and they were amazing! The office staff used to be friendly and helpful, and there was never a problem with maintenance or landscaping. The utility bills used to be cheap, and you were only charged for things that you used, water wasn't split through the community like it seems to be now. I had an $83 water usage bill for a month that I wasn't even in Florida! With the exception of one person, the new office staff is horrible. They are very rude and completely unhelpful. If you call up with a question they brush you off like you are inconveniencing them. Maintenance is a joke. We would fix our own items as well, since it took several weeks to even get someone into your house after placing a service request. Things just seem disorganized and unkempt. The grounds and the pool are always dirty. there are plenty of better housing options out there. Unless you want to live in a place that is maintained poorly, your talked down to, and you're treated like an income source, go elsewhere.

Gateway Lakes is the LAST place you'll want to live!! If I could review this without any stars, believe me..I would! My boyfriend and I signed our lease here in November of 2013. We fell completely in love with the location, property, and property management team. Unfortunately, in April of 2014 the property was bought out by Wood Residential. Let me just say since then, we can not WAIT until our lease is up. We have contemplated breaking our lease many times. Since this new team has come in, the whole place has gone to ----. Living here now is like living in a glorified ghetto. The grounds are very poorly maintained, long grass, dog poop everywhere, massive ant hills all over the place, only 1/3 of the outside lights work, wires sticking up out of the ground in multiple places. The maintenance staff is slow and lazy. We have started just repairing things ourselves. The office staff is a joke. The girls in there are so catty and rude. They make no effort to get to know you. They shift the blame when something is wrong instead of just apologizing and don't ever try to get the name or number for someone higher up because you will get the ultimate run around. Our mailbox was broken for four days and no one had the decency to tell us-in fact, we called the office and the lady, MARY ANN, told me that it wasn't her responsibility to notify us that our mailbox was broken and then hung up on me. All of our mail was being sent back to the Post Office because the leasing office refused to hold it in the mail room on property. FOUR DAYS before we found out and we found out from the mail delivery man. He said that he notified the office and they couldn't have cared any less. We had bills, packages, documents, etc. backed up. Had we found out any later, all of our mail would've been returned to the sender due to negligence of pick up. There is no parking, ever. When we moved here there was a parking system in place with marked visitor parking now, if you pull in here after 8pm you will be walking a mile from your apartment. The safety of this area has really gone down and almost all of the outdoor lighting is burnt out so as a young women at 9/10pm walking that far from my car to apartment, I do not feel safe. Finally, when Wood Residential took over this property, they screwed all of the billing up. We used to get two separate bills-one for rent/pet fee and one for water/trash/pest control. Now, it is all on one bill and every month there is a huge jump in the price. We have called and called and called to speak with someone and no one ever answers. Our water bill went from $30 to $96 in one month...we are only two people in this apartment and we are not wasteful. I make sure to tell everyone I know and meet to not even consider living here! I have posted reviews on multiple sites. Save your money and go elsewhere! This complex is not worth anyones time or money. The new leasing agents talk a good game but really really research and shop around before committing anywhere.

Zero stars was not an option, but this complex should have got zero stars. Management is not helpful, and they are very mean. We left our place spotless but only got $22 back from our security deposit. The utility bills are controlled by the complex and a third party agency and are completely arbitrary from month to month. We had a one bedroom apartment but had similar utility bills to a friend that had a two bedroom apartment. I would venture to say that several of the things the complex does is borderline illegal. The complex appears pretty from the outside, but please do not move here. It is not worth it.

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The property management and neighbors are terrible! We have an infestation of ANTS! Management hardly does anything about anything but threaten residents when complaints are made against management. We call it an "overpriced ghetto" and I hope the management is reading this review! We were told it is a gated community with all of these amenities that seemed worth the price of the apartment. We have been threatened by our neighbors that they will "kick (our) a$$es" and all management is worried about is valet trash rules! Seriously? Thanks for nothing!

I would love to say it’s been great pleasure to live here at Gateway Lakes, I’m coming up on one year living here, and I have nothing but great things to say about the property and the staff. They have been very help from day one. The grounds and maintenance keeping is second to none. I love this place I have referred family and friends to move here. The amities are great, everyone that comes to visit falls in love with the of the lake view. The neighbors’ are friendly and as well as the Staff. I feel that the fitness room is overdue for a makeover even thou their gyms in the nearby areas. The location is awesome sits right off the Highway. And for you big time shoppers the New Mall will be within minutes for your shopping leisure. I read some of the comments by other post and I will like to say I don’t agree with any of the negative things. I haven’t had a bug problem or problem with maintenance fixing anything of the problem that I may have had living here and it normally fixed within 24 hrs. So if you’re looking for a great place to live that has a tropical feeling with an awesome Staff then Gateway Lakes is your place to call Home.
