THE WORST OF THE WORST. BEFORE YOU ARE FOOLED BY THE FAKE ADS AND OLD PHOTOS, TAKE A LOOK AROUND, THE GRASS IS NEVER CUT, WHERE THERE IS GRASS, THE SHRUBS ARE ALL DEAD, DOG OWNER DON'T PICK UP RESULTING IN SHIT EVERYWHERE, THE OFFICE STAFF WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE AND EVEN PUT IT IN WRITING AND MAINTENANCE STAFF IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. KORMAN REALLY DROP THE BALL ON THIS PROPERTY
Very friendly, clean building with excellent location. Alapocas State Park is behind the complex which is an added bonus.
I have lived in Brandywine Hundred for almost year, am very happy in my apartment, and will be extending my lease for an additional 8 months when it expires. You cannot beat the location if you need quick access to I95, 141, and/or 202. This is a great North Wilmington address, yet you can be downtown in the city within minutes. It's also walking distance to the Fairfax shopping Center if you cut through Deer Hurst, the Independence Mall, Wawa, the Brandywine Branch of the NCC Public Library, and Talley Day Park. There's even a sidewalk almost the entire route. But aside from location, the apartments themselves are very spacious inside with super sleek modern kitchens (if you pay for the upgraded Modernista style) that have plenty of counter and storage space as well as stainless steel appliances. The balconies are big and most of the apartments have lovely views of the meticulously maintained grounds. There are lots of trees, a running brook, and the symphony of cicadas for those who love nature. The pool and pool furniture is always clean and well maintained, as is the gleaming, upscale lobby/reception area. Even though the apartments are older, once you get your furnishings and decorations situated, you barely notice it. One drawback is not having a washer and dryer in the units, but with communal laundry on every floor, it is rare to have to wait for a machine. Just save your quarters whenever you get change and you'll have enough to do the wash on a regular basis. The on-site fitness center is super convenient and well-equipped. If I had to nit-pick I'd say they need to put new computers in the business center and makes sure they update them because they run super slow and use really old versions of various software because no one ever seems to update them and residents aren't allowed to. Forget about using FB or any other graphics intensive social media. They barely run well enough to send an email. I wish they'd just stop using the fact they have a business center as a selling point if they aren't going to actually make it a useable feature of resident life. I also wish they would fix some of the crumbling concrete infrastructure like the steps on the sides of the buildings. I'm embarrassed to let visitors come in that way because of how shoddy it looks. Honestly, the side entrances look like they've survived a war and are still standing but badly in need of maintenance. The concrete is deteriorating badly. But I digress. But back to the good: The staff is very prompt about responding to service requests (especially if you call them or go the office in person--emailing and using the online service request form doesn't seem to work as well), they treat everyone like family, and are always courteous and eager to resolve any problem that is brought to their attention. They and the long-time residents give Brandywine Hundred a homey rather than a corporate feeling. I have compared notes with friends who rent or rented in other complexes in the area and all wish they had rented here. It's not the same as owing your own house with a private yard and a personal garage, but it sure comes close, and you don't have the hassles or extra costs that go with home ownership.
Washing machines take your money and maintenance doesn't handle washer/dryers you have to call the 1-800# for help. They windows leak and it destroyed a piece of artwork. I called maintenance again and was told nothing they can do the roof is bad. I have to have a bucket under my window at all times...plus constant mold. There is a constant smell of 2nd hand smoke in the apartment due to poor ventilation. My eyes burn and nose runs. The air and heating units are so load you need to turn them off to talk on phone or hear tv. The walls are thin and can hear a conversation next door. Not enough parking so you have to park in the center and make a parking spot. Water is always being turned off for plumbing. Can't fit large furniture due to tiny elevators. This place is over priced and is not worth the money. Moving out next month and NOT renewing the lease.
Thanks to the maintenance staff for a job well done with the snow removal this season, roads were clear before leaving for work in the morning and follow up from melt off and icing was continually attended too...Great Job!
