After living in a number of apartments in Columbus, this is probably one of the worst I've lived in. Construction was cheap. Utilities are all electric and utilized cheap appliances, resulting in the utilities bill for my one-bedroom apartment typically being $220+/month without ever being able to get my apartment's temperature to stay within 5 degrees of what I set despite the heat/AC running for 12+ hours a day. Also, my balcony door was bowed, making it extremely difficult to open or shut. Crime was surprisingly bad. My car was broken into while parked in the gated parking lot beside my building, and my roommate's vehicle was egged while parked in the gated parking garage (really). The complex seemed to also be falling into disrepair, despite new buildings going up. Deafening fire alarms went off around 2-4 am once every week or two while I lived there. The locks on the doors to most buildings typically didn't work well or were completely broken, often locking me out of my most direct route to my apartment. Additionally, the garage had standing water whenever it rained, causing anyone on my corner to walk through an inch or more of water to get to their vehicles. The elevator that was supposed to be finished within my first month of living there was never finished before I moved out, causing the leg injury I had to become a much larger issue while living on the top floor. Pros: * Covered parking (unassigned but usually available) * Newly finished apartment * Location (though the traffic from 70 was audible at night from my apartment) Cons: * Expensive utilities that don't work well * Crime * Excessive fire alarms while sleeping * Lack of working elevators
I have lived here now for several months and the experience has been nothing but horrifying. The apartments are dirty upon move in. Service requests are ignored, and should not be necessary in the first place in a brand new apartment. I have been trying to get several crucial things taken care of for months now and requests and emails are ignored. The pool was closed in july by the health department because it was too unsanitary for use. The gates in the guest parking lot frequently break making it nearly impossible to access them. The walls are paper thin and you hear everything around you and above you. I have lived in many apartment complexes over the years, including those on college campuses, and this is by far the worst experience i've had as well as the highest rent. DO NOT live here.
We just left Liberty Place apartments due to a job transfer. Without question, it was by far the best experience of all apartments we have lived in. Everyone in the office (Rachel M, Jamie S, Jesse D) was outstanding. Maintenance requests (eg: broken microwave door, slow draining tub, sticky patio door) were quickly resolved. Our bedroom window faced Short St – no real noise except for occasional train, but even that never disturbed us at night. Our only issue was parking - tight right now due to construction. If you are in the market, definitely consider Liberty Place.
Bucks3456 is right. We can't wait to get out of our lease. Living downtown isn't without its risks, but the management of liberty place is doing nothing to help the tenants. 5 or more cars have been broken into on the property while the on-site security guard does nothing but sit in his booth. Multiple tenants have complained about the parking lot lights and they still aren't replaced. A tenant was beaten inside of his own apartment and the management tries to make it seem like it was his fault. Maintanence takes weeks to fix problems. The apartments have cheap windows so you will have higher energy bills. Now this last issue is outside of the apartment's control, but with the Outland club across the street, you will have noisy nights that last until 3 AM and fights that require the police to show up are not uncommon.
I currently live at the Liberty Place Apartments and I have to say that it's the best place I have lived in Columbus. The apartments are clean, modern, updated, and stylish! I live on the North side of the building but closer to the back parking lot. Yes, unfortunately the gate to the back parking lot is a bit poorly designed with the key pad on the passenger's side. it's also nice safety feature that there are 2 key pads to go through to get to your apartment. The property manager, Dina, is always very nice and accommodating when I have any requests about getting things done around the apartment, and there has only been one problem. All of the applicances are updated and new. There isn't much storage, but when is there when you RENT an APARTMENT? There are large walk in closets, and then 2 smaller closets in the living area. Lots of storage in the kitchen. I feel that's very reasonable. I love the pool area in the summer time, with the big grill they have there. I have no complaints. And will definitely be re-newing my lease. Everyone has different experiences, but if you are thinking of moving here at least check it out!
