I recently moved from Maine (august 1, 2014) into Marina Vista Apartments. I love the size and location of my apartment. Our apartment looks great and does not leak. The apartments are pretty soundproof and although their are some cockroaches, they do pest control monthly. The maintenance crew are helpful and friendly. The grounds are nicely manicured, however there is a lot of trash and broken branches on the grounds. I did think it was odd after signing our lease, they just sent us on our way to our apartment with directions. We had never seen our apartment ahead of time and had no idea where it was. They gave paperwork for us to review on our own of any issues in our apartment and then u turn it in later. My biggest complaint is that the pool closes very early; dawn to dusk. So right now the pool closes at approx 8PM. Its still very warm and most tenants want to use the pool after work. Apparently the pool lights are broken and have been for many years and rather than fix it, they just close the pool when it gets slightly dark. Most apartment complexes keep their pools opened until 10pm or later. :(

We weren't really expecting much when we moved in considering the rent is only $500 a month but to put it bluntly, DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING! I've been in a lot of apartments in the area and this is by far the worst. I can hear everything the neighbors are doing. The people who live here have absolutely no respect for their neighbors or the property. Every single night I wake up to some hood rat sitting in his car in the parking lot blasting rap music so loud it shakes the walls and makes or windows rattle. Our bedroom windows don't open and face the front porch. I've woke up several times to people standing right outside of our bedroom windows, I'm assuming they were trying to break in, which I've heard is nothing out of the ordinary here. The maintenance staff is nonexistent. We've called repeatedly in regards to the mold running rampant in our shower and they refuse to fix it. The few things we've actually had the maintenance crew come out to fix would have been better off left alone. The linoleum floors have stains and holes all over and the white ceilings, walls and cabinets are yellowed and brown which, no matter how hard we scrub, will not come clean. If they had let us look at the apartment before signing the lease we would have kept looking for another place to live. The walls and floor are paper thin. We can hear the neighbors shutting cabinets and watching tv. The only way to not have to listen to the neighbors music is by turning ours up. It seems like there's a party in the parking lots every night. The people who live here are TRASH. They have absolutely no respect for anything. People throw their garbage on the ground and it sits their for weeks sometimes. One of our neighbors broke his window the other day and threw the broken shards of glass in the grass where we are required to walk our dog. I don't even feel safe walking to the dumpster to throw out our trash. If your looking for a roof and four walls with running water, that's about all you're going to get. If you don't mind neighbors who sell crack, party/fight in the parking lot and blast their bass all night long then look no further, you've found paradise. This place should be condemned. *I'd like to add that management is not the problem here. The problems are the tenants and the buildings themselves. They could bulk up the maintenance staff and require a lot more quality from their work.
