Convenient location, but extremely poor security. The Brookland Works garage door was broken and open for weeks (at least 3 plus if not more), since specialty parts take a long time to order. I had my bike wheel stolen from the bike chamber in the garage (whose electronic door hadn't been working for months) and was told that there was security on duty. I was told by management that there are no video cameras in the garage, but there is one directly above the entrance to the bike chamber. We just got an email that says a bike theft has occurred to the same bike chamber, and this time they came in with wire cutters to open the bike chamber. The fact that there are no working security cameras or security personnel on duty especially when the garage door is wide open is ridiculous considering the high price we pay to live on the property.

Definitely stay away from this community. It's sole purpose is to house the students from Catholic university across the street. Management is misleading prospective tenants telling them that there is a mix of residents while 95% is loud, alcohol or drug intoxicated CUA students that cause havoc on a daily basis. Management does nothing to address this problem effectively. Parking spaces are given out in a chaotic way but management will charge you for a designated spot. Only to find another car parked on your spot every day. If you complain the answer is that cars cannot be towed without a ticket due to DC law, hence nothing can be done.

Great location but management is sub par. Elevators are out constantly (one building has had an elevator down for 3 months), the screeching fire alarms go off at all hours without warning due to glitches as well as other residents, and management is either absent or ineffectual, possibly due to high turnover. Would not recommend to families with young children or the elderly.

This review goes out to the fine staff at the Cornerstone Front Desk. I often visit my son who lives in Portland Flats. Each visit, I am greeted and treated with respect and friendliness. I often walk his dog and pop into the Cornerstone to ask questions about transit or events and am always greeted with a treat for his dog (she remembers that too). Special thanks goes out to Jasmin Ward. She is professional and polite beyond what I would ever expect. Thank you so much for making a small town Florida girl feel comfortable in a big city. And thanks for everyone's kindness....Love what Monroe Street Market is adding to the DC landscape.

The Monroe Street Market was sweet but small. We enjoyed visiting the dozen or so fresh food vendors--sampling chocolates and cheeses. The fresh bread is especially appealing! This cannot be confused with even the 8th St Market, though. It's just so, so small. We also enjoyed walking into the various artists' studios. There was something awkward about this experience, in that you're in someone's private space and you have to make smalltalk, but it was also nice to see so many types of art. If you're visiting the Monroe Street Market on a cold day, let it be known that you'll be walking outside quite a bit. The studios are not connected on the inside so you're constantly going inside to outside to inside to outside. Also let it be known that there's one restaurant at the top of the street and it's very expensive. Down the block is an &pizza. Otherwise, no food options really.
