Brittinae helped me move into Monterra, and ever since has always displayed top of the line customer service. The clubhouse is always clean, and she is very detail-conscious to make sure residents are enjoying their living experience. I always spread the word to my friends that I hope they will become my neighbors at Monterra Townhomes.
It's not a bad place. The apartments are roomy, and the maintenance guys were awesome. I was there for over three years and saw turnover in the office staff about every six months. Some of the ladies in the office were awesome, others were downright rude. The rent was continually going up every year, which made it more difficult to stay. It was well worth it during my first year or two, but eventually it got to the point where I couldn't justify the rent and had to buy my own house.
They have very nice people working in the office, but they don't make it easy on you. It is not even close to being worth the rent, especially since there are virtually no utilities included. I really wish I had done more research before renting from this place. The apartment (townhome, whatever) was put together shoddily, making the steep rent not at all indicative of the place's quality. Most of the deposits were non-refundable and way too expensive. Neighbors were noisy. They installed the cheapest faucets, cabinets, flooring, hardware, and appliances available. The screen door never slid open correctly, and like many things around the apartment, it wasn't worth the $50 service call to have the maintenance people fix it. I installed a nicer kitchen faucet myself because I couldn't handle how cheap the existing one was. I also fixed the toilets myself (they were constantly running water). The cable service provided was almost inoperable; wiring was poorly installed, making the internet only available from one room (the wiring going from there to all the other rooms was so lossy, the signal just couldn't get through). I was forced to use a wireless router, but it was just not good enough to stream videos or games. I ended up getting CenturyLink for internet. They have a few lease options, conveniently allowing you to sign a 6-month, 9-month, or 12-month lease. But, you're gonna pay for it. If you're thinking about breaking the lease for whatever reason, think again. The penalty almost comes out to the same amount as if you just paid out the remaining months' rent in full and walked out. Of course, this then allows them to get some other sucker to rent from them in that remaining time. The carpets were very poorly installed, which amplified the the effects of normal traffic to the point where, when I moved out, they charged me to replace them. Even then, what they charged me was way more than a job like that should cost. It even exceeded what I had put in for the security deposit. So, I had to pay that balance. "Damages," they called it. That's not all though - nearly a year after moving out (a YEAR!), I got a call from a debt collection agency claiming that I had not paid that balance. I provided the proof of payment (copy of the cashed check from my bank statement), and now I'm waiting for confirmation that the debt is indeed cleared. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that the ladies working in the office were always very friendly. However, that doesn't make up for all of the downfalls. I very strongly do NOT recommend this place to anyone.
I do not suggest living here at all. Apparantly when the place was built they used really bad pipes for water (which are supposedly illegal in California, according to the plumber). It makes sense that management would go through and replace the pipes. No. They are waiting until the pipes break so they can use insurance money to fix them. Well this destroys the apartments and furniture of the tenants. It also put us out for 5 days while they lazily fixed the pipes. On top of that, our water bill was an extra $100!!!!!! This is unacceptable. I suggest if you are renting, ask them first whether or not your unit has new pipes or old, because they WILL break. They also charge waaaaay to much for rent in the first place. I highly regret renting here. I am counting the days for our lease to be up.
Monterra Townhomes is the best luxury townhomes you can find in town. The rent may seem a bit expensive but you get what you pay for: big two stories, with garage and nice view. We used the pool and hot tube a lot and they are always clean. I lived there for two years and loved it. Management are very nice, Riya and Ashley are very friendly and very considerate. Maintanance staff are quick and handy. I moved back to Arizona and will miss the nice place I lived. Bin, 12/29/2008
