My husband and I lived there for 4 years, though there were some irritating problems throughout the complex. Over all it was a nice place to live with a great view. Yes, like the other reviews said...the gates rarely worked in the four years we lived there and at one point one of our cars were broken into. In the summer, the water portion of the rent is a bit higher than it should be because the sprinklers are on ALL THE TIME (even raining). The maintenance guys would come and check what was fixed, but if a part was needed it would go unfinished until we would call again. For example, our garbage disposal broke they came in and said they would have to order the part and they never returned. We moved and it still was not fixed. Students from the high school across the street would roam the complex on their lunch hour...doing God knows what because the gates remained open. The view isn't the only good thing about this place. The people are all quiet and mostly military. We had no problems living in our complex. The people below us and next to us were all quiet or would make us aware of any get togethers they were having and until what time. Just like any apartment complex, The Retreat has its issues, but making them aware of the issues will help fix those errors.

I have only lived here for a short time but the leasing office staff is very nice and helpful and the small maintenance issue I had was taken care of very quickly. The area is beautiful and it's really close to biking/hiking trails...very happy to be living here!

STAY AWAY! Worst apartment experience ever! Some utilities are grouped together for the complex and you pay a portion based on occupancy. You will be paying for them to over water their grass all summer! They advertise as a gated community, but the gates never closed once in the year I was there. They said it was because of maintenance around the facility, but the place is falling apart. My dryer was broken the entire time I was there. I had to run it at least twice to dry my clothes. I made many repair request and they never did anything about it. In the spring the birds build nests everywhere and piles of crap accumulate all over. We had a three inch deep pile next to our front door. After numerous request I gave up and cleaned it myself. They did start painting the complex towards the end of my stay, but they never cleaned the bird crap up and painted over it! Plan on losing your deposit and paying some extra when you move out. The hot tub broke and we asked when it would be repaired. They said they didn’t know if they were going to fix it and they were planning to make it a flowerbed! I paid a cleaning company when I moved out. I inspected it before I turned in the keys and it was spotless, but the retreat still billed me three hours of clean time. Oh and icing on the cake, I turned in my keys to the front office (a person) and they claimed they never received some of them. They charged me for the gate key that never worked. They somehow have an allusion of being a nice complex, but the longer you stay the more you realize it's a dump with a fresh coat of paint. I would expect this from a low cost apartment, but not when I’m paying $1500 a month for a two bedroom after all of their bogus fees!

Do not live here. Especially if you are military. They charge you for something whenever they can, and go through your trash! always make sure you shred important information. The staff is snobby and unkind. The maintenance is horrible. And the apartments are dirty. The gates are never locked and they allow high schoolers to smoke pot on their lobby wall. Please heave my warning. do not waste the money

I give them 2 starts because they have something to sell. The location and view for the apartments is nice. But that is it. It is a gated community, but they never close the gates. I used my security card 5 times (no exaggeration) during my 12 month lease. The maintenance is terrible. They are more interested in painting over a problem instead of actually fixing anything. The roads (despite trying to fix them) are terrible. The reason for me not renewing my lease was because of being threatened with lawyers 3 days after being late once with my rent because I forgot to schedule it online. If you like all of those things I mentioned, then move here for the awesome view of the mountains. If you can go without though, I would definitely live elsewhere. They don't care about tenants at all...
