I lived at this location for more than a year. Their managers were always either too busy or never contacted you back. This was really disappointing especially when I tried contacting them for months about the same issue and they never made a real, genuine, effort to fix it. When I moved out they refused to give me back my deposit despite my phone calls. They will do everything in their power to try to avoid giving you back their money and that is neither justified nor warranted for the amount of time I lived there and how responsible I was as a tenant.

The place itself is just okay. Neighborhood is okay as well. A few complains more from my neighbors than my self. They have been here longer, managements has changed so now it really sucks how they run things around here. It looks like they just paint over things that they have to fix. Garbage doesn't come in sometimes. Overall like I said this place is just okay, you can get a better place maybe cheaper or just the same amount somewhere else.

The staff does not feel they should help you. I lived at the complex for 2 years and there was a management company change during my second year. The new company, MAA, are a bunch of dirt bags. When I moved out they did not pay me my entire deposit because they double and triple charged me for multiple utilities such as cable, water, and trash pick up so they could reduce the amount I was owed. I have contacted them on multiple occasions and they simply brush me off saying, "we will take care of it" or "it is not our fault." I would rent from one of the other complexes in Lake Nona before going to The Retreat.

Horrendous. The management treats you like you are an idiot, and tries to pin the blame on you, despite communicating to them about issues that arise with your unit. I moved into Retreat at Lake Nona at the end of May. I had an issue with water in the corner of the dining room when I moved in (this took WEEKS for them to clean... and I had to practically beg them to do so). This water damaged several boxes of personal belongings. Fortunately, the value was negligible. I spoke with the manager, Elizabeth, about my concerns. She tried to blame me, asking where this "mystery" water came from. The toilets constantly clog, and water doesn't drain properly from the shower. She tried to pass this off, and said it wasn't a major health concern. I told her to her face that she was treating me as if she thought I was an idiot. I have warned others, and will continue to do so - DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! Oh - also - ask them for the FULL details of the rent price. There are certain "gotchas" like "valet" trash service, and exterminator fees for pest control. Apparently, rent has gone up since I moved in. Certainly wouldn't pay any premium price for this place when newer communities are right around the corner. 8/9/2013 - Update to my original review: I had originally notified the leasing office about my shower issue, among others, on July 17th. I had an email from that date sent to one of the leasing office sales representatives (Stephanie). She did not respond to that email. I let the property manager (Elizabeth) know on July 24th, and July 25th about the issues via email. Still no response. I then submitted a separate maintenance request on July 29th about the shower/slow draining water issue. I did not hear back from the maintenance team until August 6th regarding this issue. The issue was STILL not repaired at that point. I visited the leasing office in person August 7th, and was told that maintenance was "in my apartment at the moment, taking the shower drain apart". The issue was still unresolved. I was then told that "since I wasn't home to look at the issue with the maintenance manager, nothing was done". It was at this point that the leasing manager finally began to place urgency on the issue. This was only after I had met with her and quite verbally voiced my concerns. She told me the issues "would be taken care of" and to "give her until Friday" (8/9/2013). 8/8/2013, I received calls from the leasing office stating the maintenance manager would like to meet with me to address my concerns. As I just started a new job mid-June, I have not built the repertoire as of yet to take time off at a pin drop's notice. These issues should be obvious enough (to any human being with a functioning brain), so I should clearly not have to be there to hand hold and show them what the issue is. As I had finally had enough, I ventured out to Home Depot to buy the necessary materials to correct this problem myself (something a tenant should NEVER have to do). $10 and 20 minutes later, the issue was corrected. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that the leasing office and maintenance team chose to drag out such a simple issue, and require me to threaten moving out before they began to look at the issue more seriously. To make matters worse, it was never resolved by them - I had to take matters into my own hands. Just a note - the attached picture shows the literal GOBS of hair I pulled from the shower drain. I have short hair, and have only lived here since June 14th. No way that much hair could have accumulated from me taking showers in the unit. Elizabeth told me that the slow draining tub "was not a major health concern". I spoke with a medical professional with over 20 years of experience, who currently works in wound care. She told me that this was most definitely a HUGE health concern, as bacteria, fungus, and other micro organisms could remain in the shower drain/plumbing. Any minor cut or skin opening could result in a bacterial infection due to this.

Retreat at Lake Nona is the nicest complex I've lived in, we are here until our house is completed and my wife would like to stay longer. I cant find a bad thing to say, cant hear my neighbors, they all have concrete floors so you don't hear people walking around above you, it feels like a condominium more than an apartment by the way its built and quality of construction. All of the people are very courteous, tenants included. There are a couple lakes with walking paths, let your kids fish for something to do. When we moved in the place was spotless, they have valet garbage collection and a compactor for larger items, vacuum and car wash area. The location is excellent if you are working around Medical City or Airport..
