I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The location is central to everything. The staff seem to go out of their way to help the residents. There is free breakfasts every Sunday, the gym is small but personal, and they have get-togethers to try and involve residents once or twice a month with movies and parties. On top of that, we are in love with the apartment: no noises, abundant parking, and very spacious :-)

Overall my Thornton Park experience was good, great maintence staff, and overall friendly office staff. Prices go up when you go to renew. However my number one tip would be DO NOT LIVE NEAR THE POOL the music is way too loud and the office does not listen to requests to keep it at a normal volume, I gave up on asking. I feel like I'm back in college with party people next door. Most times when it is loudest they are gone and the after hours staff "doesn't have the key" to the room that controls the volume? Also it stays on till about 8 at night. If you have kids this is something to consider.

I don't usually go out of my way to review things unless I have an absolutely awesome experience or in this case, an awful experience. First, I was attracted to Thornton Park because the apartments looked nice, it was a gated "luxury" community and the amenities were nice. After living here for a year and a half, I have not one good thing to say. The property has potential to be a great place to live but the management and uneducated office staff make that impossible. They are absolutely horrible. We had been living there for 10 months when they come to us with a letter saying we owed them our security deposit, after arguing with them and showing them the proof in my bank statements that we paid it, they said ok you're right. Then we move out, and that $200 shows up again as a balance due on our move out sheet. Not only this but we paid a lot of money to live in a luxury apartment complex and it seems there were always rims being stolen off cars, the gate was NEVER working, someone was always breaking into office or something. It was nothing but a bunch of lower class riff raff causing trouble all the time. I did not feel safe walking from my car to my apt half the time I lived there. We also paid for gate clickers ($50 each and you would be given $25 back for each clicker you turn in upon move out), we have a signed photocopy of the clickers we turned in and we were never given our money back. Although, I feel the clickers were a complete waste of money since the gate was always falling off the hinges. The only thing that was decent about the complex was the maintenance staff, they knew way more than the ignorant people in the office. Let the maintenance guys run that place! I know MANY people who have moved out of Thornton Park specifically because of the management and office staff. Also, I don't think you can consider yourselves a luxury community when you accept tenants on government assistance. If you are considering renting here, I hope this review will steer you away! RUN while you can!

Terrible experience. I would never recommend anyone living there. They nickel and dime you left and right. I didnt even have pets and they charged me $450 for urine stains that didnt exist. Then they didnt even call or email me to let me know I owed anything, I found out when collections called me and told me that it was about to go against my credit. DO NOT LIVE IN THORTNON PARK!!!

8/7/2013 Re: Mismanagement of my rent payment To Whom It May Concern: My name is Kevin Walker and I recently moved out of Thornton Park Apt 1302 on June 24, 2013. I want to advise you of suspicious activity that is going on in the leasing office at Thornton Park. I paid my rent on time the last week of May. My roommate Allison made her portion with a cashier’s check from Wells Fargo for $263.50 and I made the difference online for the remaining balance. I called in July to ask when I would receive my deposit of $200.00. I was told it would be returned to me within 30 days and to be on the look for it. Finally, I get a letter in the mail (certified… I had to pick it up from the Post Office). It was actually a bill for approximately $90. I called and spoke to Christina and she advised me that I did not pay my rent in full. I thought this must be a mistake of some sort so I spoke with her and said that perhaps I had miscalculated the prorated amount. I had recently gone on two trips (NYC, Cancun) and have been extremely busy with moving and have had a lot of things going on so it was hard for me to remember. Christina told me that I was actually short $263.50. I finally called Allison, my roommate and told her we were short that amount. Allison said, “Wait a minute. That was the amount of my cashier’s check!” It turns out that Allison turned in her cashier’s check to a black woman in the leasing office. Then I remembered that I had called the office to obtain the correct rent amount. So I called Christina back to tell her there must be a mistake because we did pay our rent… all of it. Christina looked to see if it had been applied to another apartment and she said there was not another check in that exact amount applied to any other apartment. So we called the bank. Sure enough, the check had been cashed and had been “washed.” Thornton Park, which had been typed on the check, had been washed off of the check and a man’s name had been hand-written onto the check. I called Christina and told her about this. She said, “Oh maybe this was one of the checks that had been stolen from the drop box.” Allison told her that she had not ever placed any of our rent checks in the drop box for fear of someone stealing the rent check. Basically, we paid our rent. It was handed to someone in your office. They obviously did not follow procedure and place the check in a safe place after receiving it from Allison. Allison gave it to a black woman. However, instead of calling us and letting us know that our rent was late and not paid in full, we received a notice in the mail one month later showing we owed a balance, after Thornton Park management deducted the amount they were missing from our deposit. It is obvious that someone in your office is stealing checks and washing them and depositing them in their own account. Now we have to go through the trouble of getting our money back through Wells Fargo. By the way, Wells Fargo gave us a copy of the cashier’s check showing it had been deposited. I can send this to you if you would like a copy. I sent a copy of this to Christina already. Christina said the same man’s name was written on all of the other checks that were stolen also. I’m very upset with the way this situation has been handled and this is partially why we ended up moving from Thornton Park. Poor management issues plague this place and it starts with the Leasing office. They are short staffed and they always have new people in there due to high ‘turn-around.’ It’s because of this issue that your residents are suffering and you are ultimately losing business and you have lost my business. I do not agree with the way my deposit was debited and consider this your formal notice that I am disputing the amount that has been deducted from my deposit. Sincerely, Kevin
