After being away here for a few months I realized how spoiled I was here. Sure the construction wasn't lovely but now I am in a different apartment complex across the country and I can see the comparisons. Here are some of the things WH offered that is usually lacking with other places. 1. Very clean facilities - other places my have very dirty trash rooms with bugs, even if cleaned daily, or dirty elevators or halls. Not here. 2. Professional and responsive staff - They are here for their posted hours. Other places may have staff leave early which can be inconvenient. Also, they respond to every email and inquiry they get. Trust me, not a common feature. I've sent emails to my current management with about a 30% reply rate and the rent here is 2x higher. WH never misses a beat. 3. Gorgeous lobby and flowers - They're fresh all the time here. At other places they might keep dead plants for awhile. 4. No blame game - with landlords or other management companies they might accuse you when it's not your fault, and you really have to fight not to get charged. WH isn't like that. So I miss that premium customer service WH provides. You don't realize it until you're gone.

We've been renting here for 6 months now and are very pleased. The metro and harris teeter are so convenient and the management team is amazing. Any time there has been a concern they respond quickly and effectively. The amenities are great and the place is super quiet.

Ended up not living here because the pet policy only allows one pet, while we have two. However, my experience with the leasing office was great. The guy even gave suggestions for other apartments that I should check out.

Really great staff there, and the building is nice and well maintained.

The Good: the apartment building itself is pretty new and thus, in good condition. It's upscale, but not luxury. Amenities are what you'd expect. Interior noise (neighbors, etc.) is pretty good. Occasionally, you'll hear a dog bark down the hall or loud neighbors, but usually nothing, and we are pretty noise sensitive. Actually, one legitimate complaint - depending on where your unit is located you may be able to hear people running on the treadmill, with noise traveling through the HVAC system. The solution is simple - place hours restrictions on the treadmills only, OR insulate the gym (there is no normal ceiling, with exposed pipes instead). Parking underneath the building. Great to have a gym and grocery store right here. Maintenance has been responsive to the few issues (don't expect too many issues in a place this new). The so-so: Management is neither good nor bad. Not particularly friendly or helpful, but rarely have they done anything rude or annoying either. I will say they don't make guests feel all that welcome. The place is very walkable to the metro (7 or 8 min from door to escalator), but then again, the metro has really sucked lately with rates going up and "single-tracking" being commonplace on the red line. We end up driving to many places we used to metro - not as convenient as we thought when we moved here. The bad: Construction began around the building sometime in late 2010 and probably will be going on for a few years. They start at 6am and most days that means a good amount of noise from trucks. Would have been nice if management would say something about that ahead of time, but I guess their job is to sell the place. Still, they could stick up for the tenants and talk to the city about restricting construction times to after a certain hour. Even 7 am would be nice. Also, if you care at all about a nice setting outside of your apartment, don't live here. It's strip-mall hell. I don't really care, but my girlfriend can't wait to get out of here, b/c it's just so ugly. They are building like crazy up here in North Bethesda because of the metro stop, proximity to 495/270/200 and retailers everywhere. Makes for a chaotic and hideous environment with a TON of traffic. But if you don't mind that kind of stuff, some people might really like the convenience of it all. I should also mention that for a nice, new place, and a high-rise for that matter, you would really expect NO bugs. There are no ants, spiders, roaches that you normally find in older apartments, but they have a major infestation of stink bugs, which appear to be coming from the HVAC system. Not sure how they got in (one bad tenant, through the vents, whatever) but they were really bad last fall and we've seen a few more of them throughout the winter and early in the Spring. Not too bad, but if you hate stink bugs, could be an issue for you (I don't care that much as they're not as bad as ants, roaches, spiders). Don't forget to ask in advance if they have openings in the middle-income rent program. That is a great deal if you can qualify and clear the waitlist.
