This complex is horrible. They falsely advertise and are incapable of addressing work orders on an acceptable fashion. I would never recommend living here to any family member or loved one

My husband and I moved into Westhills two months ago, and I am SO glad we will only be here for another 6 months! We are paying over $1,000 for a tiny (650 sq. ft.) one bedroom apartment (that has NO bedroom closet or efficient wash machine even though it's an "upgraded" unit). Our water bill has always been around $40/mo. except when we moved to Westhills - they divide the ENTIRE property's water bill amongst the residents, so even though we haven't increased how much water we use we have to pay about $90/mo for water/sewer/trash! Not to mention - the "upgraded" units come with a 2-in-1 washer/dryer unit which is AWFUL. It steam dries, so it literally takes 2 1/2 hours to dry like 3 items. So, we have had to pay to use the laundry facility (approx $20/mo) in addition to the $35/mo we have to pay for for the 2-in-1 machine we don't even use! If you decide to move in here, and work hard for your money, you will end up feeling very taken advantage of. Take my advice, and save yourself the unnecessary expense of living here. The model unit they will show you is NOTHING compared to the fair quality of the apartment you'll actually move into. I mean, even the drawers in the kitchen/bathroom aren't even good quality....it's a wood covering with a plastic rectangular drawer that's not even always on a track! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!

For the pros, we had a townhome style apartment, and the floor plan was great. Lots of space, and a great price for the space amount at this location. Our apartment also had fairly quiet neighbors, though the walls and floor aren't thick, so noisy neighbors would be a problem (we could hear our neighbor's dog bark through the bedroom walls and we could hear the neighbor below us when he played music, and neither the dog nor the music were that frequent, so it wasn't bad, but it could have been if they had been bad). Also there is plenty of parking. For the cons, the walls have water pipes in them that are used for heating. They knock and make so much noise in the winter when the boilers/heat are turned on that we abandoned the master bedroom and slept in the guest bedroom except for when we had guests. Those water pipes in the walls/ceiling, are also very old. We had a leak through the ceiling that recurred 3 nights in a row with repairmen needing to come in the middle of the night, which then left a huge hole in the ceiling that people had to come and repair and repaint. The doors are so paper-thin that my hand actually went through one when I tripped. The hot water is run on a really old boiler system that serves the whole building, so when the boiler goes down (this happens multiple times per year), then there is no hot water until it is fixed. The hot tub is not typically hot, and the jets rarely work and when they do they aren't that functional. Our AC went out and it took days for them to "fix" it, and then only after I bugged the front office people repeatedly about it being urgent that it was 80-90 degrees in the apartment. It still didn't work after being fixed because too much refrigerant was added so the lines just froze. The in unit washer and dryer take literally HOURS to run one cycle, and even then the clothes aren't dry. The community machines are frequently broken, and people (homeless?) sometimes are sleeping in there. The office is hardly ever open outside of normal working hours, so if you have a job, you will not really be able to pick up packages left with the office. The maintenance guys are very nice and do a good job, but the problem is they have too much to do and aren't given the funds to fix things right. So, things have been "duct-taped" for years, and issues just keep popping back up. These apartments look great! But, they are like an old car that has been pimped out with wheels and spinners and paint jobs and a stereo, but without engine maintenance or fixes. The boiler system, water pipes, air conditioners, flooring/walls/doors, on these apartments are all shoddy and waiting to fall apart. We got tired of not being able to sleep in the master bedroom and having water leaks and failed AC/hot water, so we left. Also, valet trash was imposed on everyone as a mandatory thing that people have to pay for I because it increases the rent and profit margins of the apartments. Some of the utilities come a month later than that month's rent, so when we moved out I asked how we could pay and the front office said we would get a bill. Ok, great. Then we get a letter in the mail as our "bill" that says we owe $57.60 and we have to send a cashier's check or money order and that "legal action may be pursued and your information will be sent to all credit reporting agencies and credit bureaus." We never paid rent late, and we had never previously had an opportunity to pay that amount. It seems wildly inappropriate, and yet really how this apartment company does business, to send us such an aggressive "bill". I guess the summary is that these apartments have some perks, but they have had cosmetic upkeep that will result in rental value increases but not upkeep that results in functionality so maintenance issues are common and not the fault of the maintenance department. The apartment company manages this thing like a cash cow where treatment of and quality to renters is a low priority. Think crappy quality goods that look fine in the box but break easily.

EDIT: This place quickly turned into the worst apartment I've ever had, even more so than when I rented in Fort Collins as a college student. We had leaks come through our ceilings when we had the heavy rain back in June, but we're on the first floor - how the hell does that happen!? The neighbors above us suck, and let their kid run around continuously, causing our place to constantly be flooded with thuds on the ceiling. We've approached them and the management about the issue and nothing has been done. Noise complaints did nothing to stop the noise and management said it's a "he said, she said issue." We resorted to hitting the ceiling with a broom when the noise became unbearable, and we go slapped with a noise complaint. We're paying $1310 for a two bedroom, not including utilities, for the crappiest place imaginable. Do not rent here, go somewhere else. You will regret your time here. I recently moved to this apartment complex with my girlfriend. The apartment we originally were supposed to move into had a number of problems wrong with it, right off the bat. After addressing our concerns, management moved us to a different unit that only had a couple of things wrong with it and said they'd address the issues in the other unit before having someone move into it. The few things that we needed corrected were done so by the maintenance staff within the week. I have had nothing less than a positive experience with the office team and the maintenance staff. They have always been helpful and attentive. The one major drawback to this place is how you can hear your upstairs neighbors. The unit above me has a kid around age 1-2 and it constantly runs around, which is very audible in our apartment. After asking the parent if something could be done, the running still continues, as well as the constant thuds on our ceiling. It sucks, but not much can be done other than to keep going and complaining to them.

Currently living here and already looking elsewhere to live. There are more cons than pros here. Every place does have a sliver prone, untreated deck. Limited parking in the uneven as hell lot. Every stair well is worn down and filthy with debris. Terrible landscaping/maintenance. They're more than happy to take your money for their outrageous fees on their apartments that haven't had a renovation since the 60s. So that being said, asbestos is probably in the ceilings and walls. I asked during a walk through and she said, "I'm not sure". A/c leaks onto the carpet after it being "fixed" twice. Had my vehicle towed due to expired plates, had 3 days to notify them to not tow it. Called and they said they need west hills to call. Spoke with them and they assured me they would call the tow company. Two days later it was towed anyway. I didn't pay anything to either company but the hassle and lack of communication effort was ridiculously terrible. The laundry center locks don't work half the time. They had a key bust off and it was unlocked all the time which was nice. But they failed to even send an email stating it was replaced and needs a different key to open it now, so I'm typing this with a basket full of half dried clothes from the crappy washer/"dryer" unit in the apartment. There's hair painted into the bathroom walls, along with my bathroom door which has so much paint on it, it won't latch close. I understand they are trying to save money, but I do not see any of it going back into the community at all to justify giving this place more than one star. I filled out a survey that said if I do I would get up to $500 off rent in the next month or two, I filled it out with much of what I'm typing now in hopes they would appreciate the honesty. Haven't seen anything taken off. Not mad about it but man, its bad. The least they could do is install ceiling fans in all the higher ceiling apts. But I'm sure that would cost to much..
