Lived in a new cookie cutter apartment put together with paper clips and rubber bands. When it was time to move I searched Google and looked at reviews. Hermitage at Beechtree had a poor rating and negative reviews and was quickly omitted from my list. After exploring other options unsuccessfully, I thought it couldn't hurt to look. I was amazed to find not only the management, but the property was awesome; with more amenities than I expected, eg. Full-size pool, access to greenway, car wash, large gas grills, immaculate landscaping, and the rent was extremely reasonable. Another selling point was the fact that the building was built in the 1980's and is a solid, well-built structure, unlike the cookie cutter apartment I lived in. I moved in in September 2014 and am extremely happy with my choice. Neighbors are friendly, the area is safe, and if you have small children the school buses come onto the property to pick them up. The few minor issues were addressed promptly and staff called to verify maintenance was completed promptly and to my satisfaction. I love it at Hermitage at Beechtree, and the the negative reviews, I suspect, were written by individuals not doing what they were supposed to as far as their lease. I encourage you to come see for yourself.

Update: They sent me to a collection agency and it ruins my credit BUT i have already paid them all the extra billing amount before the deadline. This is not a decent place to live. If you can avoid please go to other places. The charge extras each month no matter you used it or not. They will reject your pakages if you donot pick it up timely. They will charge extra when you move out. They have all sorts of bug problems in the community. You will regret for choosing here.

I have lived here for almost 3 years. I like it here. Maintenance has always been responsive. The office is courteous and professional. Rents are comparable to other places. The location is convenient to major thorough fares and shopping. The complex is quiet and well kept up.There are add ons including cable, water, sewage, and pest control. Prospective renters will want to calculate these into their total rent.

Donot live here. We have been living here for 2.5 years and we really cannot bear the bad environment provided by this community and it is getting worse. If I can choose 0 star, I would definitely take that. Let me start from my own experience. 1. Mold issue. The apartment I rented had serious mold issues due to water leak in the old complex. However, the maintenance or office staff never tried to fix it completely but instead, they put white paint on the spot and told me problem fixed. Think about it for your kids, your family. How can you image you live in a mold area all day long? Donot be fooled by the "outstanding" looking in the office, I will tell you how they suck the money from the tenants and put it to lure you. 2. Bug & mouse issues. Remember, there is mouse issue in this community complex since the past half year. This is the first time I saw these (mice) in all the complexes I have rented. You cannot image the mouse and bugs are using your utensils, bowls when you sleep. That's really disgusting. They charge you for a pest control fee, but never did any real pest control. 3. Slow maintenance and old appliances. Their maintenance staff is very slow and never competent to accomplish the task. The old stove in my apt stopped working momentarily and I asked quite a lot of times to get it fixed but they just cannot fix it. At last, they said if I keep calling them to fix, they will charge me for coming to fix. What a joke. 4. Various overcharge items. They charge you 4.99 pest 7.99 trash, 40 cable saver (no matter you use or not), 0.99 statement fee (4.95 for paper statement), Excessive water/sewer fees each MONTH no matter how you use it or even if you donot use it at all. 5. Excessive charge when move out. They finally replaced the ten year old stove when we move out but they said it was due to our damage to the stove and they charge us full price on the stove. 6. Hard to find office staff. The office is closed at least for 2-3 hours per day due to their working schedule or showing apt. It is just very hard to find them. I feel sorry that I made the bad decision to live in this community for 2.5 years and I feel very fortunate I finally moved out of this falling community. Donot fooled by the looking of the office, that will be paid by you and you will expect the same poor or poorer experience as me in the future. If you have other choice, donot live here or even the whole MAAC communities. They are just a joke in this area.

Recently there has been a series of break-ins and theft which management has tried to cover up by secretly tearing down flyers put up by a tenant to inform the community. Obviously the managing company at Hermitage at Beechtree, Mid-America Apartment Communities Inc (MAA), would rather risk having your property stolen than reveal anything negative about the place because like the manager said, the flyers were “bad for business”. Additionally, Mid-America has sunk tens of thousands of dollars into community renovations like the front office, pool (which leaks), the small gym, and landscaping to impress prospective tenants. Please don’t be fooled by the bait and switch because the rental units (which may have a fresh coat of paint) are still the same cheap units that were built in the 1980’s and have infestation problems, old appliances and HVAC systems, drafty windows, mold, and high energy bills. The underpaid maintenance staff only put in the minimal amount of effort on service calls and often have to come back to re-fix things. It’s no wonder there’s such a back-log of service requests. Living here has been such a headache and I can't wait to leave! On top of the over-priced base rent you can also expect to pay every month: Pest Exterminator Fee $4.99 Trash Fee $7.99 Electronic Bill Fee $0.95 (Yes they charge you to receive a bill, its $4.95 for paper) Cable “Saver” Charge $40.00 (Mandatory Time Warner Cable agreement for Basic Cable) Pet Rent $12.00 (If applicable) If you’re considering renting from MAA at the Hermitage at Beechtree, you may want to think twice and look elsewhere.
