We have gone on several whale watching tours with this company and have enjoyed it every single time, even the one trip that we didn't see whales. It's very inexpensive when you use the coupons, and the coupons are everywhere. For those who complain about parking, that is a given for any activity in that area. You just build that into your planning. We ALWAYS find parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. We took our 9 year old grandchildren recently and it was an experience of a lifetime. It doesn't get much better than seeing a humpback whale in its natural habitat.
I had no idea where I should park for our whale watching. Everywhere I tried to park had a maximum of 2 hours and the tour is 2.5 hours long. After dropping my family off at the door I parked at the meter and could only do a max of an hour. I got back in the vehicle and moved my van to look for another spot. I found the palm parking lot and quickly parked and tried to add time but was maxed out at 2 hours. So frustrating! I have never ran into that situation in Utah. Time was running out to catch the boat with my family so I had to chance it. The parking was $1 for 2 hours and my ticket cost $58. Most cars around mine had tickets as well. I had called the office to ask where to park and was only told I'd have to find a place because they don't have a parking lot. To make matters worse, we didn't even see any whales on our trip. :( I don't fault them for the whales thing, that is understandably "hit or miss", just would have helped make me feel better about the ticket.
My whale watching experience was great! before you get to see the whales you get to see the nice view of Balboa Island and the pier from the boat and lots of sea lions and dolphins swimming and flipping away even racing along side the boat. Yes racing! they swim right underneath the boat and try to stay ahead of you, they looked like they enjoyed it. Then, Our Guides took us out to the spot where Momma and baby humpback whale were and followed the whales as they swam and flipped and did their whole whale blowing thing. It was awesome to see the whales that up close. Can't wait to do it again!
I love the fact that our driver paved through the waters to show us a lot of marine life and after so much patience has been exhausted he finally spotted some grey whales in the distance near some oil ships. He approached the 3 whales with grace and efficiency. My family and I had a good time in old vessel. Thanks fellas for an unforgettable sea voyage.
Save yourself the aggravation, the pain, the frustration, because honestly this company/tour just isn't worth its weight. If you read the reviews the positive ones (of which there are not very many …they have to be written by family and friends). We planned a family occasion a celebration, which was completely screwed up by the staff taking the reservations. We had driven over 100 miles for this day out only to be confronted by the rudest, most aggressive front desk staff, the ‘lovely’ - Marissa in particular was a nightmare, she implied we were lying, shouted at us and stormed out of the office. But don’t worry, the professionalism doesn't stop there, on the phone we were equally doled out more insults by the brusque mouthed Leah. We were offered no apologies, no resolutions in fact if anything, we were blamed because we had ‘failed to take the name of one of the many call center operators were had spoken to confirm reservations twice’. I suppose it’s no surprise that when we entered the building another equally upset couple said they would never use them again, and judging by the reviews (be it sport fishing, whale watching or other) it’s no wonder! Save your money and your temper . Go elsewhere!!
