I still currently leave in St. Andrews Commons. And I can't wait for my lease to be up. The office staff is very rude and racist. It is supposed to be a gated community but the gate is always broken. And the rent every month is NEVER the same. This is by far the worse apartment complex I have ever lived in!!
My husband and I have been living here for two years and haven't been compelled to move yet, so that's got to be a plus right? The complex it's self, though it looks nice on the surface, has been going down hill since we've been here. There is a pool, gated entrance, car wash station, fitness center, and generous sized homes with washer/ dryer hookups and screened in balconies. It would all make the rent very worth it if things were kept up. It's simple things really, like the tennis court needs a good power wash. There are so many layers of mucky slimy grime on the ground in there that if it so much as drizzles the ground becomes too slick to walk on (then you fall in the muck and are covered in the said muck.) The pool area used to be beautiful. Resort style they call it, and it was. Now the chairs are falling apart, garbage is everywhere and the pool is always way to filthy to think about getting in. Looking more trashy than relaxing and inviting if you ask me. The gate in front is completely pointless. Nobody ever has a key card so each night 5-10 cars line up and wait for someone at the end of the line to get out of their car with their key, walk to the front, and let everyone in all at once. Not that I know this from experience or anything. Also, the water hose is always cut or missing from the car wash anymore and the hose on the vacuum has been missing all summer. So it's pretty much pointless by now too. They are changing the code to get into the fitness center so often I gave up trying to keep up and just don't use it anymore, who knows what the code is now? Plus it's kind of lacking anyway. They say people who don't live here keep trashing the place. Maybe a better solution would be a key card entry instead of an ever changing code? Just my idea. As far as maintenance goes, the guys are very nice and they are always out in a very timely fashion to look at your problem. If it's a simple fix and they know what to do, great, it'll be fixed before you know it. If they don't however, forget it. A piece in my living room window broke this spring (5 months ago) and I was reassured they had their window guy coming out to take a look at it. Never happened. Still won't stay open. I'm sure they have a lot to do and just forgot. I'll probably bring it back up this fall when it cools down again. I really need that window to open considering the one next to it has a busted screen and lets all kinds of bugs in. (Also asked to have fixed last year, guess a new screen was too expensive.) Other than all that, and our current bed bug problem that is taking entirely too long to get resolved, We are comfortable in our apartment. The staff is really nice, we've never had any serious issue with the people currently working here, the neighbors are great, it's a nice quiet place and hey, the landscape is very pretty, especially when you compare it to what the world looks like out side of the gate. This place has a lot of potential, it just needs a little bit more care and upkeep. I get it, running an apartment complex is expensive.....but some things just have to be done if you want to stand out from the others in the area.
The Best Apartment Complex in COLUMBIA!! Im so happy to be a resident of Saint Andrews Commons. The pool, fitness center, workout room, car wash port, gated entry and landscaping are all worth every dollar I spend for rent. Which isnt to bad actually! I have a very nice sized apartment with a washer and dryer, screened balcony, dishwasher and garbage disposal. I love it, love it, love it. When I read the reviews before I moved in and I was kinda hesitant to even visit. Im sure glad I did! The Staff are amazing and very friendly. If your looking for an apartment, especially if your single; Check out Saint Andrew's Commons.
Hello Everyone, I have been living here for 6 months. my apte is one bedroom with balcony and washer dryer. BIG PLUS, laundry is a pain...
I would recommend bachleors or single people to come live here. Not recommend couples, or families. I like it here, plenty of parking, people are okay, I havent had any problems, gated community, maintenance super duper fast, staff very nice, even after youve been renting for a while. Key thing is treat everyone the way you would like to be treated and you should be okay. The gated access is sometimes jammed with ppl who are confused, sometimes the gate is broken, open 8am-6pm tho. The gym needs some new equipment, and some dumb bells, atleast trust us that much we're not going to take them, well atleast I wouldnt. A freshner in their would be nice. The pool....its may 21st and 90 f for the past 2 weeks, open it already...
Oh and the Central A/C system needs to be changed through maintenance every month. Vents need to be cleaned often, much dust and dirt coming out of them. Apartments....Wall paper thin..can i get some privacy, I cant even talk on the phone without having to worry that my neighbor's heard the whole convo. Besides these few points, again, this is a nice place to live, considering that the area is a metro area. the buses run right across the complex. Convenient location, next to cvs, walgreens, bi lo, interstate 26, takes you to harbison in 3 mins where the huge malls are, pretty much every kind of store is there. Rent could be cheaper though, they try to press these charges on you, they say its for "insurance" , like 10- 15 dollars a month on top of 600 for one bedroom.
It is not as bad as these other people are saying. Of course you are more inclined to leave a bad review if you are angry and not every situation turns out to be optimal. That being said, I have been living at St Andrews Commons for about 5 months now and have not had one single problem. I have pleasant neighbors and the staff is very helpful to me. They are courteous and will take care of you as long as you aren't a complete, inconsiderate cretin to them. I would definitely suggest it for anyone of my family or friends.
