After 5 years I am so glad to be out of there. We have had roaches with NO help from the management (the roaches came from a unit next door when the drug dealing guy bailed in the middle night), termites (which all they did was squirt some stuff in 1 hole in the wall, and now they are back), loud harassing neighbors that the management said to keep complaining everyday so they had a case and then after a few months said they weren't going to do anything (those neighbors got evicted for not paying rent months later), horrible families with loud disrespectful kids screaming in front of your window, dogs peeing and pooping all over with no leases (seriously, don't go in the grass, one kid got a rash all over his body when he played in the grass area), etc. I could go on and on but I won't. I will say I loved my apartment. I had the split level and it was great, which is why I gave it 1 star. I would have stayed just for the apartment, and I absolutely hate moving, except they sent me a letter saying they were raising my rent $140!!! Quality of life there sucks unless you are one of those inconsiderate people who could care less about your neighbors, then you probably would like it. Plus, what I just learned is that they charge a MANDATORY professional $110 cleaning fee when you move out. You may as well not even clean because they will charge you it no matter what. The manager Angie told me this as we did my final inspection and also said she didn't want to put it email/writing (probably because its not legal). Mind you, when I did the pre-move-out inspection the maintenance guy Pedro told me I didn't have to do anything. I asked him 3 times because I didn't believe that and the third time I asked he said "just move your stuff out." What a joke.

Management is not helpful. If you have a water leak in your apartment they will tell you to call your renter insurance although is their fault. They recently hired a security company to patrol the apartments but the security office is only open from 8pm-6am. When I called them I spoke to the dispatcher and he said that the office was closed and everyone was on the field, I asked if they have been patrolling the apartments and he said yes although I have spoke to some of the tenants and they told me they have not seen security guards in two weeks. My car got broken in during the weekend and the management office doesn't want to do anything about it. There wasn't even a manager on site when this happen, I had to ask an employee to get the manager to come over and talk to me leaving my phone number with her. Manager eventually showed up to the office but didn't have the courtesy to call me and let me know she was on site I had to go back to the office just to find out she has been there for thirty minutes already just talking to the other employee. I am not the first nor last person to complaint about the management I just wish all the other tenants that have been mistreated will do the same. If you are consider to come here go to EL CAJON POLICE DEPARTMENT FIRST, GET A REPORT OF HOW MANY TIMES THEY HAVE ANSWERED CALLS IN THESE APARTMENTS FIRST. I wish I would of have done that. Good luck.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have lived here since July 2011. Originally I moved here because it was the only place I found within my budget at $875. If I wasnt in a lease I would have moved out a long time ago. I now pay 1065 for my 1 bedroom with no AC/washer/dishwasher and no pets. 1. There is a window AC unit but it took them a month and a half and me calling the corporate office to get it fixed; however, it still never got fixed, it blows hot air and doesnt fit in the space so air comes through anyways so it is miserable in the summers and winters. 2. I still have a broken kitchen light, they replaced the bulb and thought that fixed it, I gave up on trying because I cant afford to take sick days to let them in my apartment since I dont feel comfortable with people in my place when im not here. 3. There are laundry rooms at each building- in my buildings there is always something that is broken whether it is 3 of the 6 washers, or 2 of the 6 dryers- none of them all work at the same time so Ive resorted to doing my laundry at 5am in the middle of the week so I can ensure I get a working one. To load the money card for the washers you have to find a building that has the machine so I have to walk to the next building to do so- and that doesnt always work either. 4. This morning I took my 5th cold shower in a week and a half- I called maintenance for my leaking toilet and about the water on Saturday and he informed me that it was something they already knew about- so why do I still not have constant hot water? 5. I live on the second floor and when people walk by to get to the stairs you can hear them stomping the entire way. 6. Every morning there are dumpster divers. 7. The office people act like it is such an inconvenience when you call to get something fixed or when you go in for a question. 8. I was charged a late fee because they never notified me my rent increased when I went from a lease to month to month even though I came in to make sure everything would be a smooth transition. 9. My pool key doesnt work for any of the pools. I asked for a new one and it didnt work; I gave up on asking for another one because these people are so ridiculous to deal with! 10. When you sign a lease you have to pay $15 for a parking sticker which they claim is for security but I have never once seen security in over a year of living here- but you cant park under the covered spots unless you pay extra (they do tow) but there isnt enough spots so you actually end up parking on the street instead. So really you pay $15 for nothing. 11. The walls are so thin that I hear my neighbor peeing every morning and I hear my other neighbors (downstairs and next door) conversations, washing dishes, EVERYTHING. Dont waste your time or money coming to this place.... I have finally saved up enough money to move out- THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have lived here a year apts. are raggedy, the "new management" I believe her name is Shannon has very poor customer service skills. I pay 1337 which includes trash water for 2 bedroom no dishwasher. Walls are paper thin can hear everything your neighbors say and do. I get up and shower at 6 a.m. and always the water is cold. The drawers are falling apart. Oh but when I arrived from Washington to move in I was given a totally different apt. They did not have the keys to the door, and there were stains on my carpet, which I marked down. If I can offer advice DO NOT waste your money on these.

They should rename this place Ghetto Park apartments, or Desert park apartments. I have lived here for three years, and things have gotten progressively worse to the point where I am now looking for a new place to live. Key complaints: 1) The owners keep cutting trees down to the point where the apartments are no longer shaded from the HOT El Cajon sun. By 3 PM, west facing apartments are like saunas. The decks look pretty from below but are unusable until the sun sets. 2) The parking lots are a wreck with potholes everywhere. 3) The landscapers trim, and mow and operate noisy blowers every day, there is never any quiet. 4) Folks never clean up their dog's waste and now there is a horrible fly problem. I am a clean person and I must've killed around 100+ flies inside my apartment in the last few days. 5) They lure you in with a cheap rate and then at the end of your lease they jack up your rent. I signed a lease 8 months ago, had and increase then, and now there will be another $35 increase. 6) The neighbors are all heavy smokers and leave their debris around, plus, if you try to go outside in the evening, you may need a respirator to avoid being asphyxiated by the neighbors smoke. 7) The air conditioners are a joke. 8) The walls are paper thin. If your neighbor turns the water on or uses the bathroom or takes an early shower, you can hear everything as though they are in the same room. 9) They shut off the water for repairs about twice per week on average. 10) YOU pay for gas, water, electric, sewer and trash through a company called AUM, a suspicious company, which is a way to make the rents seem lower. Then you pay electric on top of that. I could go on....but my advice would be to AVOID FOREST PARK APARTMENTS!!!
