Management is pretty darned bad. For instance: they got rid of all the dumpsters and put one little trash compactor that is on the edge of the complex so that we have to make a virtual pilgrimage to take out the trash. And then they put threatening signs up about fines for people who put trash where the dumpsters used to be. Here's the thing tho: the trash compactor doesn't "pack it"; it's obviously inadequate and there's always a huge pile infromt of it. It looks like a developing country back there. And then there's the decks. Except that they sent us all notes threatening us with fines if we put stuff on the decks. Because ya know, nobody wants to sit on their decks. And the theatre they advertise: you can't access it after 6pm. Because students totally have time to watch movies during the day. And if you go out to the hot tub after 9pm, their rent-cop will kick you out. Even though the only thing that is posted is to stay out of the swimming pool. Get the picture? Not only that, most of my friends who live in Rockland have stories of documentation errors from the office. So yeah, many better options for your money.
PLEASE DO NOT MOVE OVER HERE. If i could give 0 stars i would give it because they're management is very bad. They have random charges that come from God knows where. My roommate was threatened with $900 and if she doesn't pay she will be evicted. These people DO NOT care how they treat you. I have had multiple scenes of random "service men" coming in my house without prior calls or notification. They unlock doors and walk right in. I do not feel safe here. It's supposedly a "gated community" but none of the gates have been closed since I moved in and even when I came to visit in March. I have a supposed renovated apartment but my furniture was scratched up, walls with marks on them, my floors were dirty when I moved in and the blinds are falling apart. I have had 3 service calls due to the poor functions of my "new appliances". Don't waste your precious time with these people.
Do not move here! They charge you extra for electricity. They don't tell you anything. You're expected to know that you have to get your key fobs activated but don't keep you updated. The apartments are too small for what we are paying for. Don't do it! You can't break your lease without finding a sub leaser.Management is pretty darned bad. This place is awful! -When we moved in, they didn't have an apartment ready for us because they thought we were moving in on the 15th, not the first (we looked at the lease and they had a cover page with the 15th written on it, but the rest of the lease, which we actually signed, had the correct date.) -While they were painting my building, the workers took everything off of all our portches and just threw it on the ground! I came home to my lawn chairs just sitting by the sidewalk along with everyone else's things from the building. On of my neighbors asked one of the painters about it and he said the MANAGEMENT told them to just climb up on ladders and throw down anything in the way and just put it back when they were done! -The management is also very rude and inconsiderate. during the summer, they had no rent drop box for when the office was closed and they charge $20 every time you pay online, so since I worked 8-5 it was impossible to turn my rent checks in on time, or go talk to them when they misread one of my checks! I came in after hours and luckily they were still there. When I explained why I couldn't come in during their usual hours, they still wanted me to leave! -Their check machine didn't read my check for the correct amount, so they just ran it anyway, and asked me to write a new check for the remaining balance, $.37! And they said if I didn't give it to them in a day, they would would charge a late fee! They will make you do anything they can to get literal pennies out of you. -They don't know how to communicate with their residents. They give no notice that they are removing every dumpster in the complex and replacing it with a single small trash compacter. So you might just wake up on day and every dumpster it just gone, and with no idea where your supposed to put your trash. When everyone starts leaving their trash bags where the dumpster used to be, they management threatened everyone with increasing fines starting at $25 per bag, and left a note on everyone's door finally telling us where the trash compacter was, passive-aggressively labeled "second notice" (there was no first notice) TL;DR This place sucks, and living here is actively stressful. You don't need this in your life, especially if you are a busy college student or have a family, or a job.
My roommate and I move into The Rockland this August, 2015. We are still living here but are looking at options to move out. This is VERY bad place to live. I have really bad asthma and I am sensitive to load sound. Before I move in, I ask Rockland's management, if they can put in me in an apartment that has no one smoking near by or no loud neighbors. The neighbor across from me move in after I did, they both smoke and I can smell in and out of my apartment. The people above me, play NON stop loud music and have very loud sex. I ask Rockland, If they can do something about this.. They reply with we can't help you. The apartment in general doesn't look like they show you in the walk-through. THE MANAGEMENT SUCK HERE, I have many different stories beside this one I can talk about. Whatever you do, Don't move into this place.
