DO NOT MOVE HERE! My bestfriend and i moved here almost 6 months ago and we cannot wait for that 6 month lease to come to an end. Living here has been a constant pain ever since day one. very over priced, constantly getting fined for the littlest of things, maintenance is rude and walks in without permission, Management is horrible. They'll lie straight to your face and threaten you with eviction more than once when you say something about it. Just do yourself a huge favor and keep far away from this money sucking apartment complex.
This is a really nice little complex in the Lyndon area of Louisville's east end. I lived here with my brother for a couple of years. Just out of college, we were drawn by the nice location and inexpensive rent, as well as the close proximity to my job. Pros: The management is SUPER nice. We always paid our rent on time, and they were always really polite and helpful when it came to dividing the payments among separate checks. There is a fee if you pay with a card, however. The bill is delivered to your door about 2/3 of the way through the month, and the utilities and rent are clearly spelled out for you on the form. The few times I had a question about a charge, they were able to clear things up really quickly. We got our full security deposit back. The apartments are big and cheap. We had a 2 bed, 2 bath at a very reasonable price, which was good for two people recently out of college. The kitchen is roomy and comes with a dishwasher, fridge, and electric coil stove. Living and dining are combined into one large area, with one ceiling fan over the dining area. We had to put a couple of lamps in the living area for when it got dark outside. Both bedrooms were spacious and equipped with ceiling fans. Both bathrooms were nice and the same size. Parking is great. The spaces are gigantic and it's never hard to find a spot close to your building. There were some children in our unit, though, and without a playground or anything for the kids (hint hint) they would play in the parking lot, so we had to be careful driving in sometimes. At night, the lots are very well lit. I felt much, much safer here than I did when I lived in Old Louisville. Maintenance was always very quick to respond to us. If they ever fixed something when we weren't there, they would make sure to leave a note. There were monthly maintenance walkthroughs, but there was always advance notice given and the few times we were there when it happened, the workers were nice, quick, and unobtrusive. I didn't get to know the workers like I have at other complexes I've lived, but they also weren't creepy like some of the ones I've experienced. Pets are allowed! We had birds and weren't charged extra rent. Noise levels weren't bad. I would describe the community as "active." There are lots of people of diverse backgrounds, including some young parents, so there would be children playing and dogs occasionally barking. We lived in a second floor unit. Sometimes there would be noise during the day, but people were generally quiet at night, and there were ways to report people being excessively rowdy. The location is awesome. You're super close to two Krogers, a Meijer, Trader Joe's, the Oxmoor and St. Matthew's Malls, as well as a lot of restaurants and shopping centers. We never had to go far to find anything. Cons: The complex is located on Westport Road, right behind Westport Middle. A lot of Westport students lived in Country Brook. Turning left across two lanes of traffic, especially during school drop off, pick up, and rush hour was irritating. I often turned right and turned around farther down the road; it was just easier. The doors to the common entryway area of the apartments are "saloon-style:" they just swing open without the need to turn a knob. While this is nice when you're moving in, it does mean that bugs get into the halls, especially when neighbors prop them open, which they shouldn't do. I would occasionally find a spider or a fly in my apartment because of this, but never an "infestation." The roofs are built at a very unfortunate slant above the entryway to the apartment buildings, which meant that if it ever rained hard, there would literally be a waterfall right in front of the door. Not fun during the summer storms Louisville often gets. All in all, I really enjoyed my time at Countrybrook and would definitely recommend it! It was a really great location and a safe, friendly place to live!
The apartments here are roomy and well maintained. However, the facilities and staff have a severe lack of communication, and are not true to their word. From the day we moved in to our last day as residents, they have been unhelpful, uninformative, and inconsistent in communication. They expect their tenants to assume much and attempt to punish with fees if you don't abide by their rules (that you don't know about). We requested to have a pest control representative tour our apartment for an estimate, and the Countrybrook staff allowed him to treat the apartment WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, with our pet still inside. The pool, which is quite nice, is difficult to use due to the false hours that the staff distribute to residents. Today is a Sunday in June, and at 1:30 in the afternoon (several hours after the pool should be open) there is still no lifeguard, and the gate locked. This has happened dozens of times, and we have only lived here for a year. The laundry facilities are also quite nice, but are not 24 hour. It closes at midnight, and if you're folding clothes at 11:30, expect to be rudely spoken to and nagged at until you leave by the closing staff member. I would only recommend Countrybrook to someone who only needs a space to eat and sleep. Trying to live here, and take advantage of the amenities and facilities offered has been a pain. We will not be renewing our lease here.
Affordable living at great value. The apartments are simple but spacious and I never had any issues other than the typical apartment living experiences. I had several maintenance issues that were fixed same day or the next depending on severeity and never had any long standing problems. Location is great, rent is cheap, management is easy to work with.
My husband and I have enjoyed making this place our first home with our baby. The unit itself is very nice and spacious and any maintenance issues are always taken care of promptly.
