I have stayed at the Swissotel twice. Both times were pleasant experiences. The rooms were very clean, and the beds/pillows were extremely comfortable. It was very quick check-in and check-out. I made sure to get the lake-front room the second time because the view is great. I had a great view the first time, but the building next to it wasn't completely finished yet. The WiFi is too expensive for today's standards. The door on my second stay was difficult to close (had to slam it). That didn't bother me, but it may have for the people staying next to my room. I think the location is great for people that want to visit Chicago.
I had a New Years Eve reservation. I was in town a few days ago and decided to stop by. I wanted to see the type of room I would be getting, as I wanted to compare to the Sheraton and Hyatt Regency. I had booked a junior suite, but was shown a corner suite (not sure why). I loved the view, so I told the associate I wanted a room just like it. He said no problem, and would leave a note in the system so I could get that exact room, if possible. The last thing I asked on my way out was if the price would remain the same, and he said yes. I even made a joke of how we needed more people like him. I took his name down and was going to provide some positive feedback on his behalf, after my stay. I called to get my confirmation number today, only to find I was not booked for the room I had requested. Apparently they called this employee, and he denies telling me what he said. He claims he advised it was available only if I upgraded. That makes perfect sense, and I wouldn't be upset over it if it were true. He never told me I had to upgrade, and why would he leave a note in the system for me to get a corner suite if I wasn't booked for it? Customer service (the 800 number) was useless. Although she was nice, they were unable to help me. My only option was to pay more. I wanted something closer to the lake, but now I realize why I keep returning to Hyatt. At least they can admit a mistake and make up for it. **Gave this hotel another chance the weekend before St Patty's day. At first I loved the room; everything looked fine, comfy. The view of the lake was awesome. But within a couple hours I checked out. The room was covered in dust. I mean, covered. The bed. The info book they provide which lists all hotel amenities. The tub... I was filling that while I showered, and noticed the water looked dirty. Not only was it dirty, there was hair. Toilet either wasn't fully working or it was clogged. The manager was nice and offered a different room, but given my previous experience on NYE, I was done. Didn't know where I was going to spend the night, but I was done with them. Finally went to Hyatt Regency downtown (about a block away) and they were able to hook me up with a room.
Horrible Customer Service - I got two different answers when I call and when I show up. Three times!! I asked the front desk ahead of time, then turned around and got a different answer when I arrived at the hotel. I was nice and courteous - as I continued to get conflicting information - these people DO NOT CARE that one front desk clerk tells you one thing and one tells you different. They can say whatever they want
My brother-in-law book our room but it was a very nice and comfortable with a great view. I probably wouldn't stay again only because it's kind of pricey. On the positive side The bathrooms are really nice, and the beds are comfortable. on the negative My brother-in-law also got room service in their room and it was $114 for a steak, so be wary of that. Overall I would recommend it if you're looking for a nicer place to stay.
Great hotel in Chicago. I stayed here for and through work. I was really impressed with the views and the efficiency of the hotel. The lounge and check in area would be nice enough to impress most of your friends. The elevators are those new energy efficient ones where you pick your floor and it tells your the elevator, instead of the other way around. The rooms were relatively spacious, modern, and clean. The views from the 29th floor were also pretty spectacular. The bathroom was nice. I wasn't sure why they have a separate shower from the tub but that's fine with me. They gym and pool on the 42nd floor had pretty majestic view. Nicer than most other hotels I have been to.
