The maintenance quality is poor. I put in a maintenance request because the battery went out in one of my smoke detectors, and it took 4 days of that thing beeping until someone came. I finally had to use one my friends ladder to get up there and change the battery myself, because I'm on the third floor my ceiling is a lot higher. They have 4 maintenance guys and still took them 4 days. I lived at Oak Reserve before here and they had one maintenance guy it took him only one day. As with any apartment the noise is always an issue, but stonecastle advertises quietness. The neighbors here slam their doors hard as hell. My mom visited she said she could here everyone leaving for work around 6:30 a.m., all the way from first floor to the third floor. The guy underneath blamed all the noise on me, and complained to the leasing managers, and of course they believed him. The thing is he made more noise than anyone and made everyone think he was a victim, when really he was the main one causing the disturbance. Even though they have a gate it's never closed, not exaggerating. It's never closed, because they built the leasing office inside the gate. Back to the neighbors thing, they all play music all day loud. I go to Full Sail University as with 90% of the people over here, the rest are loud as UCF students, and they all play music loud as hell as especially the girl in apartment next to me she never stops. I have complained but once again I was blamed for starting it, when I didn't.
Awesome Management Team and great support staff!!! Service requests completed within a day and immediate attention given to urgent matters. Safe. Clean environment. Clean pool and stainless steel gas on pool deck!!!
Beautiful apartments, friendly staff, filled with Full Sail & UCF students. Not the cheapest community but WORTH EVERY PENNY
GREYSTAR SUCKS, STAY AWAY. I've lived at stomecastle apartments for a total of 7yrs and management in the past 3yrs has been progressively worse. Greystar now manages the property and their office staff has proven time and again to be poor customer service. Our ac broke last night at 3am, I called and left a message on the emergency line twice. This morning woke up at 12 to find the apt 80 degrees, when I called Ron told me I made a mistake and left a message in the regular voicemail so they were not able to get maintenance to look at it til this morning. First, they open at 10am how many ac's broke that it takes 2hrs to get someone to repair it? Secondly, how can you tell me that I called the wrong line...twice?
I rented a 1 bedroom (760sq/ft), first floor with a lake view and no upgrades (track lighting, new granite counters, etc.). Plenty of space, close to the club house amenities, never had issues with parking. They also offer garages and storage units for a monthly fee. When I moved in 3 years ago ZRS was the property management company, helpful and friendly office and maintenance staff. ZRS also requested residents to submit ideas or requests for improvement every once and awhile. Air conditioning unit frequently leaked coolant and drip pan had to be replaced (once after overflowing and causing water damage to the wall by the front door and closet) and resulted in high electric bill at times. When we moved in there were fleas in the carpet - maintenance came by and sprayed immediately no fee. ZRS was replacing carpets in most units but ours was skipped because it "appeared" to be in good condition. Greystar management took over in Fall 2012 (I believe) and since then I think that the apartments have nose dived since then. The new office staff is unhelpful and new maintenance crew unreliable. I noticed the pool hasn't been cleaned as frequently (green color) and a couple of lights around the pond have not been working nor replaced by maintenance. I had a fan/light installed in the bedroom and requested maintenance to take it down (since they originally installed it)and the office advised maintenance was not permitted while on the clock but would have one of the crew members contact me if they were interested in doing it after hours. I inquired why after hours and she said she couldn't discuss their policies with me. No one ever contacted me - I took it down myself which is fine but what the hell? Secondly, I notified the office 3 months in advance in writing that I would not be renewing my lease in May for the upcoming year and advised within to please contact me if any additional information was required prior to moving out. I got a letter 1 month prior to moving out advising to come in to sign the new lease agreement. The office advised it is their policy to sign their form and therefore my notice was invalid and they are requiring me to pay 1 extra months rent. They also claimed they never received any notification but then discovered my notice when they pulled the apartment file. Within my original lease agreement it just says written notice must be X number of days in advance and when I came to the office they claimed it was the first time hearing from me. I will not be paying this extra months rent because no where in the agreement does it state I have to fill out any form prior to vacating. Also the new management company refused to perform a walk-through although inspection prior to me turning in my keys. I really loved my apartment itself (french doors are awesome), the location of the apartments (close to downtown Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, and UCF area) and the grounds are nice. Prior to moving out I recommended Stonecastle to anyone who was searching for a place but now I wouldn't recommend Stonecastle simply because the current staff is rude and unhelpful. Crime has also been on the rise there and is evident by increased police presence at night (some times 2 - 3 squad cars, lights on scouring the premises) and police helicopters with the spotlights obviously looking for suspects. A couple of rapes have occurred and increased theft. A neighbor told me their car was broken in to and were missing several valuables (GPS, CD's, etc.).
