We've bought a house with Misty Bernot from Chelsea Realty Group and we're thrilled about the quality of service Misty provided. Misty is knowledgeable about neighborhoods, houses and the selling process. She spent several months working on hour case, was always easily reachable and quick to respond. I would recommend working with Misty Bernot as a buyer agent.
Initially I had a particularly negative experience with one of the receptionists who was rude and hung up on me. But after I communicated this to one of the relocation specialists, Karen Norman, I really felt differently. She apologized for the woman's rude behavior and said that that is not indicative of the attitude of the Chelsea Realty Group. She then spent a lot of time talking to me about Raleigh, the relocation process, and also sent me information on their relocation services. She is now helping me find a home to rent in the area and couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Thank you, Karen!!
If I could leave zero stars, I would. You live and you learn I guess. I lived at a charming Chelsea Realty property for 2 years, with of course constant problems as you'll find in vintage homes. Besides the fact that the home was old and in dire need of upgrades and repairs, there were a lot of bigger issues that an owner who cares about the quality of their properties would pay attention to. In a year, I had pipes burst 3 times on me despite me leaving all the faucets running all day long the entire winter. Each time pipes burst, this left me without water until repairs were made. Most repairs were prompt, meaning between 1-3 days without water. Actually, I don't know if you would consider that prompt. Repairs were made, but walls and floors were never replaced. My bathroom cabinet opened up to the exterior of the home where pipe repairs were made, leaving any critters to crawl through and making it freezing cold in the winter. The ceiling in my spare room was caving in because of severe water damage. I took and sent pictures to Chelsea Realty multiple times over the course of 8 months to show them the progression or the damage, but I never received even an attempt for anyone to come view the problems. I can't believe any state inspector would have passed that house. I received a job opportunity to move out of state in early March, and I let Chelsea Realty know I was moving out at the end of March. The new property management group they worked with were initially helpful and supportive, letting me know that they would work to get a new tenant in ASAP even though initially the rent was raised $300 a month. Quickly the team have become almost completely non responsive. This is probably partially because of the owners, but still a total lack of communication. 3 months after we physically moved out, but continuing to pay rent on a home we weren't living in, finally a tenant moved in mid month at a lowered monthly rate because no one in their right mind would pay that much for basically a slum. I was told I would be able to get half month's rent returned to me, plus my security deposit (a whopping total of $300). 4 weeks later, I no longer am receiving any communication AT ALL. I'm calling it a loss on my part for being foolish enough to deal with the company to begin with. Obviously they need the money bad enough not to be able to return it to me.
After calling to schedule an appointment to view a property we were told there are weekly open houses at 4:30 and we would have to go to one of those. We go to the open house today and no car is there at 4:40, after calling the company we are told the realtor left because no one showed at the open house and we're out of luck to see the property. Looks like we will be finding a different company to rent from.
These people are the most unprofessional realty group I've encountered. My son was a student and rented from them. Not only was the home in terrible condition when he moved in but after living there he continued to discover more and more problems. I put a ton of money into making this property habitable and was promised reimbursement for all costs, but never received any money. My son has since moved out of the apartment a few months ago and I still have not received my security deposit back. These people are lazy, liars and cheaters and will only try and take your money. They do not care about the well-being of tenants OR their property. Never rent from them!!
