Always something for everyone. There is a nice trail that runs through which is great for walking, running and biking. There is an area for dogs to run off leash. There is a splash pad and playground for the kiddos. Also lots of picnic tables to sit down and replenish after all that activity.
Home to Eeyore's, our city's own fest Verdant and spacious, competes with the best Kickball and volleyball, courts for the fit Day drinking and weed smoking, sports we won't quit Scenes of the hills, views of Lamar Shoal creek runs calmly, draws guests from afar Vein of the city, artery of the town One of the best parks in the city of the Violet crown!
I was pretty bummed out that they took out the disc golf course, but they have to do what saves the landscape. They have a lot of space for dogs to be off leash. It's a great place to walk.
One of the best things about Austin is that, even as development flourishes throughout town, there's no shortage of green space set aside to go hiking or jogging, host outdoor events, or just to have a picnic and enjoy nature. Pease Park offers the best of everything as far as Austin parks are concerned: at 42 acres, it's big enough to serve as an ideal spot for an outdoor gathering, without being so big (like Zilker) that people could get lost trying to find you! It's centrally located near the University of Texas campus, accessible to everyone without being too much of a drive, and has a good variety of park features while still leaving plenty of open space to lay out or run around. I first discovered Pease when my friends would play disc golf here in college. While it looks from some of the other reviews like the disc golf course has been taken down, there's still several basketball courts, volleyball courts, barbecue pits, plenty of picnic tables, a playground, and an awesome aquatic playscape for the summer (this one's intended for kids, but I won't say I've never taken advantage of it on a hot day!) The wide grassy areas are also perfect for boot camps and outdoor yoga classes, which were the reasons for my most recent visit. Pease is also the site for the infamous annual Eeyore's Birthday Party, one of the "to-do" items on my Austin bucket list. This is a fantastic venue to burn some calories, see some live music, or just get some fresh air, and we're very fortunate to have it in Austin.
This hidden little park is my favorite jogging spot. Please do not run here so it can remain quiet and hidden. lol jk The trail is great for exercise, not to mention that one steep hill. Great for dogs, yoga, martial arts, and anything else. This is also where Eeyore's Birthday Party is held, which is very Austin-ish.
