The management staff is horrible!!! They don't return your phone calls and when you call they give you the run around. They knocked on my door to while I was getting ready to take my trash out to tell me (with an attitude) that I can't leave trash in the hallway. This is the same lady that never called me back about renewing my lease and gave me an attitude when I came in the office to follow up. While the location is nice, the neighborhood is okay. My car was stolen and another car got broken into. They have a security team but somehow all these bad things still happen. The maintenance staff is rude and slow. My dishwasher isn't working correctly, I called and after 2 months; my dishwasher is still broken!!
I moved here in August 2010. The first apartment was absolutely filthy. I spent days cleaning it. My first neighbor blasted her music various times within the first week I was there. I told the manager about it, and I talked to the neighbor in person. The neighbor seemed nice at first, but my rental car got keyed. I called my manager and found out she had sent a "noise notification" to that neighbor the day before. After this incident, I wanted out of my lease. The manager would not let us, but she let us move to another unit. The next unit was clean except for a sink downstairs filled with dirt and a dirty wash cloth left in it. Big improvement over the first though. Unfortunately now, I have a neighbor who strolls in with his car stereo blasting at various times of night. He's done this 2 times on the mornings of exams. I also have another neighbor who plays some sort of loud guitar. My roommate and I have knocked on the wall to try to get him to turn it down. He recently yelled through the wall "Shut the mother f*ckin up! I'm gonna do whatever the mother f*ckin I want to do in my own mother f*ckin house! Shut the mother f*ckin up!" I called the police and they never came. I've spoken to in person and called the manager several times about these issues. She seemed apologetic, but recently she sent me a letter claiming no one else hears the car stereo--as if I choose to wake up at 5am to an imaginary car stereo--especially on test days. The good things about the apartment is that it is a good location relative to the med school, I like the layout of the townhouse, it's cheap, and the maintenance is relatively quick to fix things. The bad: even ear plugs, an air purifier, and a fan won't block out the noise of the neighbors--especially if you have a neighbor with a fancy car stereo who wants the whole world to hear it.
