This place is awesome. No place like it and if there is you will pay through the nose. Coming from Chicago I know all about that. Twice as much if not more for much less improvements that's for sure. Canterbury Green is a great place to live. Beautiful. And I'm quite sure the negative reviews here are just people who complain everywhere they go. Been here 3 years and no negatives to be said.
Ignore the negative reviews. I have been living at Canterbury Green for over a year now and I love it. I initially moved here to attend college and after comparing apartment prices and features, I finally settled with Canterbury. I live in a one bedroom apartment and I love that it comes with a washer and dryer. I found this feature extremely useful. It's so nice not having to take your laundry elsewhere to wash it. The size of the apartment was also very spacious; much larger than any of the others I had seen. Canterbury also allows up to two pets. They are extremely pet friendly. They even have a dog park! And finally, when it comes to maintenance, they are on top of their game. Each time I have submitted a service request, they came that same day. As for rent, I have heard from friends who have previously rented elsewhere, that my rent is excessively cheap. The electricity is no higher than anywhere else. I think that many of the negative reviews are made in part to inexperienced renters. Of course the electricity is going to cost more in the winter when you have to use the heater. That's a no-brainer. In any case, I was just as skeptical about Canterbury prior to moving here as much as any of you are because I saw so many negative reviews. I love these apartments. One look at the size of them and you'll realize that with so many people taking residence here, it's not bad at all. After all, why are they the largest in Fort Wayne? Because they are so reasonable.
Canterbury Green requested my feedback via email. Thought I'd share here. FEEDBACK: •Noise: Living on toward the back next to Pierre's Night Club you can hear music/bass on some nights. •Grounds: Since 2009 the appearance of the complex sure has degraded. dead trees, overflowing trash dumpsters. •Safety: The lighting down Woodshire Blvd and the carports have been an issue for many months. Finally was fixed, then they are out again for construction. Really hope no one gets hit! I also paid $5 a month to park my car and walk to the building in the dark for 3 months. Seems legit! •Neighborhood: location is good. •Maintenance: Not at All. In 2013 I had my toilet start leaking from the base at 2:30 AM. Called it in, they sent a security guard to "make sure". Took 3 hrs to fix. Back in May 2015, I was concerned with a strong adhesive odor in the common area of the building that was also very apparent in the apartment. Called it in to after hours # and was told someone would be out. I left and returned four hours later with no sign anyone had been out. Called the after hrs number and they told me to call the local number to Canterbury green Maintenance, got a voicemail. Didn't get a call until 11AM the next morning. •Staff: I don't feel like they care about the residents, all they care about is the money. Res Relations Associate sent me move out paperwork. I was under the impression that I'd turn them in on move day with my keys. Just curious I reached out to res relations associate asking about the paperwork. The response, "if you're talking about the vacate paperwork, that all should have been turned in." There was nothing on the paperwork in regards of when it was due. I also asked about being present for the walk through. "I looked at the schedule and you hadn't scheduled one." I was never told I had to schedule one and so now 'I don't have to be present for it'. I feel like I have a right as I want to make sure I'm not being charged for bogus stuff. That just scratches the surface.
Living here makes me appreciate just how much I was able to get for my money now that I'm moving to Columbus, OH and have to pay at 'least' $300 more per month for a comparable sized apartment. I live in a "Black Prince" style and it's great. The place is huge (850 open square feet) the closet is huge, it has a massive bookshelf area for putting up pictures, decorations, and (obviously) books and DVD's. It has two extra closets which more than accomodate anything you somehow weren't able to store in the large bedroom closet. The open floor plan makes it seem even larger than it already is. I also have a wood burning fireplace and a sizable balcony which were both enjoyed greatly this year. The shower head is high pressure and the plumbing works very well and the $10 extra a month is totally worth it for the assigned car port. Saved my butt this winter! I've enjoyed the fitness center and the pools, and even just the sheer size of the community which is always well kept and excellent to walk around. I have had a few maintenence issues, but they were always taken care of quickly and professionally. My only complaints are ones I'm sure others may share. First, it is in need of some updates. I believe they will be made, but it takes time. Example, the wooden cover to the balcony is rotting away and isn't safe to lean against. The second bleeds into the first complaint as the windows, quite frankly, suck. They leaked like a siv this winter and (being all electric, including heat) made my electric bill jump at LEAST $100/month in the winter months. I tried the plastic covering that they did give me free of charge, but it didn't work very well as the windows weren't really made to be covered efficiently with such things. That is the only reason I didn't give this place 5-stars though. As my first apartment, I've definitely been spoiled. Sure it needs some work, but it was a great place to live and I don't regret my decision one bit in deciding to move here.
They never clean up in the back of Old Dover Blvd by the river. They treat us like 2nd hand citizens. We pay rent just like the people in front by the leasing office. Emergency maintenance never answers the phone. They are so mechanical. We are moving. This place SUCKS. dont rent here. Oh by the way We pay $800.00 a month.
