I moved in on 9/11/14. These apartments are ok. I think the staff are cool people. They listen to you and understand situations. Except one lady in the office in all honesty I think she's racist. She never wants to help me, she's rude, and even phone callls when I call she automatically sounds annoyed and goes "Is this Brianna?" I've had a problem with my down stairs neighbor since I've moved in (literally the day of) and I got complaints from him all the time. I've had notices after notices about me being "loud" and smoking "weed". Come to find out two of my neighbors in my building smoke weed!! So he didn't even know what he was talking about. I went to the office, talked to them and they have not bothered me since then. The maintenance here is actually pretty awesome! They all are professionals. They wave, smile, or nod if their hands are full and make sure our trash isn't nasty. And last winter was crazy I honestly wasn't expecting too much but once it was time for me to go to work.. I could my car had bad tires that was the only reason I couldn't leave lol! But: While living here I've seen my complex on the news once for a robbery which is actually scary considering I did live by myself. And not to be racist but I also don't like that their are a lot of africians in my building their food literally makes the building and sometimes my home smell like sh**! (They're nice though). My air condition vent outside is so disturbing I can't sleep sometimes it's so loud. Then again all of them are. They all are pretty old and rusty. Other then that my apartment experience here has been pretty good. Oh and I would refer a friend here (which I have) and got $300 off my rent. This is an apartment complex I would say you get what you pay for.
If you really want a review read this! And share it!.. My girl friend moves here on April 2014 and everything was good until her toilet broke from the base and since then until this day the management haven't came and fixed it. it was okay, after a while you just deal with it, but the real problem was when the first snow shower came, and then the second, the third one and so on. They actually start clean the street around 10 am, when a lot of people already go out work and so, and about the walkway we had like 8" of snow and they only clean enough so the door can be open, they didn't even use salt, but we do still have 8" of snow on the walkways and still more snow to come. I was thinking to move with my girlfriend and live here, but now no way, as soon her lease end we moving somewhere. Please if you are a single men is fine to move here, however, if you have kids, wife or family at all, don't even try it, believe me is frustrated when your girls can't go out work because she can't even back up with her car. Or if you move in bring your own shovel and bag of salt to clean your walk way., if you want pictures and prove of it contact me ill be more than happy to send.
This is the WORST apartment complex I have EVER been at. I've lived at several places and this is the only place I've ever had a problem with. A pipe busted in my wall and the entire floor of my closet was soaked, damaging a lot of my things. I was not compensated for ANY of it. They claim to have "24 hour emergency maintenance" but all it is is a phone number to their "emergency mailbox". Your apartment could be flooding and they would be unavailable until the next day, IF THAT! They are extremely nice at first to get you to lease and as soon as you're in, they are SO rude. They do not care about their tenants or your problems at all. It took the maintenance men TWO MONTHS to entirely fix the leak in my closet. They would come, screw around, and leave. I would keep having to remind them to help me and each time they would come back, do a little more, and then leave again instead of entirely fixing the problem. Water damage equals mold which could very easily make me or my dog sick. It is an obvious health hazard, they did not care one bit. And they would be rude the whole time, as if you're annoying them. Eventually I just stopped communicating with them altogether because it made no difference whatsoever. They also told me prior to moving in that they would have all the weeds taken care of outside BEFORE I was supposed to move in, which I didn't really care about, when I did move in they were still there, which I didn't complain about out of pure politeness because they were just weeds. And then they tried to CHARGE me $50 for "not taking care of my yard". The maintenance will come into your apartment WITHOUT knocking. I eventually got tired of the blunt rudeness so I started chaining my door shut, (because they also never sent anyone over here to show me how my alarm system worked which was the whole reason I moved here to begin with) and the maintenance men told me I was not allowed to have the chain on my door because it prevented them from doing their job. Apparently we are not allowed to be safe at our "home". If I had any minor problems (which I was always polite about) all they would do is ask for my phone number and say they'll get back with me that day or the next, I have NEVER received a phone call from them. Leasing here is the BIGGEST mistake you will EVER make. Also, the parking place is nowhere near big enough. Prepare for some exercise to and from your car every day.
Do not live there! it's infested with bed bugs! I was there for almost 3 years & they don't care about their tenants. they tried 2 blame the problem on me when my pregnant fiancee & I started gettin bit & wouldn't let me out of my lease. Worst apartments ever! smh $RythuM$
They are nice and the maintenance people are friendly and I have not had many issues. The maintenance people have been pretty good with requests. No place is perfect but the carlton people are good.
