We have lived at The Landmark since April, 2015 and love our place! Our apartment is considered a one bedroom plus den but the den is large enough to use as a second bedroom. We were concerned about the noise from the Great Dane, but it has never been an issue. We love that we can walk to get groceries and to grab food and a beer. The property manager, Norma, is extremely helpful! The maintenance men always come and fix things right away when needed. It's a safe and quiet area. People are often out walking their dogs and it's right on the bike path. This is a great place to live!!
Pros: Underground parking and outside parking, no extra fee for parking for guests. Very very quiet, sometimes I think I'm the only one living here! The animals don't bother me at all, everyone cleans up after their pets outside and the hallways and elevators are very clean and smell fine. My apartment is very up to date and everything was very clean when I moved in. I have a nice patio off of my living room. There is a decent sized work-out room in the main building. If I ever have any maintenance problems (like when I broke the blinds) they are very quick to solve the problem. The neighborhood is very nice, pretty quiet and I feel very safe. Its about a 10 minute drive into downtown Madison. Cons: My apartment is relatively small and there is a burn on my counter-top that was there when I moved in. They said that the counter would be replaced soon, but it still hasn't been. The parking spaces are very small and the storage units aren't matched up with parking spaces so half the time you can't get into your storage unit because a car is parked in front of it. The price is high, but I think it is pretty typical of a single bedroom apartment in the Madison area. The Great Dane is across the street and can sometimes get a little rowdy late at night. Overall, I would recommend The Landmark.
Pros: Pool that is shared with the entire Rental and Condo community back there, not just the 2 apartment buildings (a con). A nice multi-purpose building attached to the pool area that you can rent out (with reimbursed security deposit) for parties or any group event. Any maintenance issue is handled very quickly. A small fitness room. Pretty good apartment managers (if they are actually there during the times posted which I've noticed they often aren't) Cons: Expensive for how old and poor quality the building is (see further for details). Small parking spaces underground. There are some storage closets underground connected to parking spaces that belong to people who don't have the parking space (great planning there..). If you don't live on the top floor, you will be burdened by hearing EVERY FOOTSTEP OR MOVEMENT made above you; this is no joke. They allow dogs when there is no sound proofing; walk through the halls and you can hear inside every apartment. If a part timer is working in the office instead of the property manager, hang up the phone or walk straight out because your message will not be relayed. The bottom line: You are paying a lot of money to live in a building that has no sound proofing and many outdated features. The pool is used by the whole rental/condo community, so everybody is paying for it and it will certainly be packed to the brim when you want to use it. The fitness room is nice if there are a few people, very limited otherwise. Would I recommend this place to a friend? I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy..
Not at all as good as you might think. It's EXTREMELY overpriced, especially for the location. Fitchburg has some very sketchy areas, and a friend living just two buildings away has had peepers in her window. Scary. There are places MUCH nicer downtown that are about the same price. This place was GREAT when Will was the property manager, but now that Sarah work here, it is awful. She is literally the worst property manager we have ever had, and I've lived in some crappy places. She is rude, thoughtless, and cannot manage her office, let alone two buildings. She has lost packages, did not tell me when they would be working on our BATHROOM WINDOWS, so when I stepped out of the shower, there were workers outside of it, did not tell us when they were testing fire alarms (which happens about once a month and scares the crap out of my animals each time), didn't tell us when they were going to be re-doing the carpeting in the hallway or in the apartment above us, so I woke up at 7am to pounding on my ceiling. I can hear every step the person above me takes, too. My light fixtures shake every day. Trust my husband and me, you can do MUCH better. If they replace Sarah, I'm sure this would be a much better place to live, but still overpriced.
If you like to smell and step in dog crap everytime you go outside, this place is for you! Bad, bad neighbors with dogs.
