Los altos employees are trained to scam. I was misinformed about a prorated amount of rent due at the end of my lease, spoke with a girl in the office, and was confirmed that the amount was correct (I paid on the UDR site). I got a notice of an additional amount with a late fee because whomever I spoke with misinformed me that that was the appropriate amount (once again, this was the amount online). I asked to have the late fee removed because I did not pay late. I paid back in January when i was told the incorrect amount. Of course there is no proof that I was told this becasue the girl in the office has not spoken up. I have tried to contact Lindsey Rivett for two weeks now (manager) as well as spoken to Mindy Carreras (UDR district manager). Lindsey has simply not returned my calls. Mindy actaully hung up on me when I asked for her superior, mind you no rise in my voice of cursing was used. She stated that she will under no circumstance NOT remove the charge. She made sure I understood only her and Lindsay could do this so I was wasting my time. I asked her for a receipt of payment/invoice of charges and she promptly replied she can't do this since we get emails of payment (funny enough I finally got an employee who was NOT Mindy to print me one). She refused and said no one can see this but her. I just recently got my last water bill....via email.....with ANOTHER late charge. Please someone explain to me how I'm late when I've received no bill in the mail??? (which they told me I'd be getting?) DO NOT RENT HERE.....they'll scam you at the end
My husband and I moved into this Los Altos complex, in October of 2013, we moved out October 19, 2014, a Sunday. The office was closed on Sunday, so I went down Monday morning about 9:30 am to return my keys. Willian was in the office and we finalized everything and I left. A days later I received an email from Mindy (the property manager) showing an itemization of my final bill. See below, note the amount we were charged for rent on Monday, because the office was closed on Sunday and we were not able to returned the key until Monday morning. This young woman should not be working in this position. I never had any problems wit them until I moved out. I called and spoke to her when I got the email on October 20, she said she sent out our check. As of today, December 4, we have yet to receive the balance of our security deposit. We have been calling the local office as well as their headquarters, gone into the local office and nothing. I have heard things from others renters who have moved out. When I ask them about it, they say these are just a few people who want to cause trouble. Someone from the office has been calling my house phone and hanging up before the end of the first ring, when I return the call, there is no answer. They have my cell phone #, no one has tried to reach me on that. I must say, maintenance was great. I think they are trying to pretend that they try to call us. Renters, just be aware! Worst apartment complex I have ever seen. My gf lived here until she moved out last week. The apartment she was living in from day one was horrible. Stains were all over the carpet even though they said they had "cleaned" them the week prior. When the apartment was painted they didn't tape anything off and there was paint all over the carpet as well. The A/C unit didn't have a filter in it when she moved in so dust and dirt was covering every surface in the apartment. The worst part of this complex is how unsafe it is. She got a notice every other week of car break ins. The worst part is about once a month there was a notice on her door that an apartment got broken in and robbed during daylight hours! Unreal! No security what so ever. I did not feel safe for her living there and she moved out as soon as she could. Noise is also an issue. Her apartment backed up right to the post office. No one informed her until after she moved in about the noise. Every day at 3 am the post office trucks start banging around and it is so loud it is almost impossible to sleep through. So good luck getting any sleep without earplugs. In conclusion, DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!! If you want to live in a filthy apartment and fear for your life every day go ahead, but I would highly recommend never going to check this place out. If you currently live there, good luck. Move out as fast as possible!
First of all red flag red flag. This place advertises luxury but its far from that. I cant wait to move out of this place. I don't even know where to start. I was robbed twice in the same apartment 5 months of moving in. They had no consideration for what happened. I was charged a fee because i wanted to move to a different apt and didn't feel safe. They also wanted to put me in another lease of one year. The nerve they had to ask that of me after getting robbed. This month i had a visitor and there car almost got robbed in bright day light. The cops had to be called because we saw the guy but he ran away too fast. I feel like i'm being watched/spied upon and i'm SCARED. I have someone walk me in to my apt because i'm scared. I DON't FEEL SAFE. The gate is always broken too. Invest your money somewhere else where you and your family can be safe.
