I would like to thank the office staff for helping us get preapproved to move in since we were coming from out of state they were very helpful and friendly and we really appreciate that. We moved in and i realized i had a problem with a window lock and called the office. They sent someone to fix that problem within 30 minutes. When we moved in they had just put installed new carpet and repainted the apartment i was impressed. I have only had good experiences with the maintenance guys if i have a problem they come right away to fix it. They have hundreds of apartments to upkeep and they probably need more help they do a great job. The grounds are nice and freshly cut, the pools and laundry rooms are clean and well maintained i definitely am happy with all they do. They are pet friendly which was a must since we travel with our animals. They are affordable and the people that run sailwinds and the maintenance staff really care and would definitely move here again.
The worst. If you need somewhere temporary and have absolutely no where else in the WORLD to go yes. They haven't been renovated since they were built. NOTHING works, be nice to maintenance you'll be needing them once a week. Plumbing, electricity, rodents, mold, strange scents basically EVERYTHING that makes apartment life miserable. I HAAAAAATE IT! THE WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
Staff from top to bottom i's unresponsive to residents concerns. The maintenance staff is horrendous, their a/c tech dave put the wrong relay in and we awoke at 3am to an apartment full of smoke.it took many attempts to repair unsuccessfully before they replaced it,they left all the debris in the hallway and made no attempt to clean up,cut a large hole in the ceiling for installation and covered it by sticking an aluminum backed piece of styrofoam wedged between the walls.despite numerous attempts on our part to get this resolved it still isnt repaired.bad parking lot full of potholes and unnecessary speed bumps, garbage is typically laying all around the dumpster area as well as old junky furniture in plain view. Lest i forget to mention the occasional burning car in the parking area there have been two i know of.i cant say but it sure appears to have a connection to drug dealing. To sum up under no circumstances should you move here its an insecure place in bad disrepair rapidly turning into a ghetto!!!!
Pros: Never had any ant/roach problems, no problems with appliances or a/c, responsive staff when I had a complaint/issue, decent parking availability, low rent cost on move in, pet friendly with small dog park, large trees, quiet neighbors (mostly), FiOS ready, some units have recent remodeling Cons: standing water problems after rain (at least in back parking lot), large jump in rent at renewal (my unit lacked any remodeling/upgrades, unlike others around me), lake of ventilation in bathrooms (staff refuse to turn on the electric vents), grass in some areas nonexistent with cable wires sticking out of the dirt, Verizon FiOS people have been in my apartment at least 5 times for attic access to set up/fix other people's FiOS systems), people outside community regularly jump the fence or go around it by the lake to walk/bike through or use the Sailwind Apartments pool, neighbors sometimes make poor decisions like pot smoking (the strong smell came in through my a/c vents frequently until those neighbors left), leaving a mattress on the lanai for over a month, grilling on the small porches/balconies near the units, fixing broken windows by duct-taping them, covering windows with tin foil or other strange things.
Horrible. Carpet was stained and nasty when I moved in, they cleaned it and still didn't clean. Horrible roach problem, they said the spray monthly but there is no way. I can not get rid of them. I have had more plumbing and electrical problems in 1 year, it's crazy! Rent is to high for what you get!!
