Do not move here they don't fix nothing I have been asking for things to be fix since November and still I can't get it done. They sell u a big dream. And Nena in the office is nasty.they don't care about after they get your money. I'm so done with these people it not funny. And management is no better she don't do anything about it.
Pros: Never had any ant/roach problems, no problems with appliances or a/c, responsive staff when I had a complaint/issue, decent parking availability, low rent cost on move in, pet friendly with small dog park, large trees, quiet neighbors (mostly), FiOS ready, some units have recent remodeling Cons: standing water problems after rain (at least in back parking lot), large jump in rent at renewal (my unit lacked any remodeling/upgrades, unlike others around me), lake of ventilation in bathrooms (staff refuse to turn on the electric vents), grass in some areas nonexistent with cable wires sticking out of the dirt, Verizon FiOS people have been in my apartment at least 5 times for attic access to set up/fix other people's FiOS systems), people outside community regularly jump the fence or go around it by the lake to walk/bike through or use the Sailwind Apartments pool, neighbors sometimes make poor decisions like pot smoking (the strong smell came in through my a/c vents frequently until those neighbors left), leaving a mattress on the lanai for over a month, grilling on the small porches/balconies near the units, fixing broken windows by duct-taping them, covering windows with tin foil or other strange things.
this place is trash they try to have you keep paying money to then and one of there workers tryed to have sex with me in my apartment i tryed to tell them but they would not listen to me and there boss is racist to black's and hispanic's don't ever live here ever
My husband and I moved into this apartment complex in June. I would have given this between 3 and 4 stars until about a month ago. Soon after we moved in, my son became very ill. I also, have had symptoms. My son has been hospitalized, and is now seeing a specialist, with no answers. This past weekend, I found black mold in my apartment. I spoke with the apt manager on Monday, who told me that it was not mold in my air conditioner, before I even told her where I found it. I thought that was strange, since the places I found the mold were under my fridge, in my ac unit, and in my bathroom (shower, and under the sink). I explained to her that I have been cleaning the mold in my shower with bleach, but it is growing back. I emphasized on the importance of having a window, or vent fan in the bathroom, and that I believed it was code. She assured me, that she does not have to supply a fan (even though we had them, and they were taken away) because of the age of the building. She then told me to leave my bathroom door open. When i informed her I have a 2 year old, and that was unrealistic, she told me to go buy a gate. Why should I have to spend 20 plus dollars on a gate, when I am suppose to have a fan? When I showed her pictures of the bathroom ceiling having mold on it (brown spots), she told me I can just clean better, and that it was dirt. She made me feel like a liar when I showed her pictures of the mold under my fridge and air conditioner. She said she wanted to come in and see for herself. I asked her if she would be there that day, and she said yes, she just had to grab someone from maintenance. It is now almost 72 hours later, and no one has come. My family and I are living in a mold infested apartment. I spoke to Winter Haven's code enforcement, and was informed that Sailwind DOES have to supply a vent fan, and that they have been warned of this before. Hopefully this will be taken care of soon. Aside from my mold saga, we have also been dealing with a "leaking" air conditioner. I put the word leaking in quotes, because the more accurate description is down pouring. This has been going on again, since June. Maintenance has been here numerous times, and we have been told 3 or 4 stories on what the cause was. I will say this most recent time, the maintenance supervisor came in, and we have not had a problem in about two weeks. That is a record. Along with the air conditioner, my kitchen faucet is broken. They have replaced this once already, but a week later it is back doing the same thing. My bathroom sink does not drain all the way. There is always a puddle of water in the sink. My tub has been leaking since we got here. They have fixed this about 3 times. Lastly, when we first moved in, this apartment was not cleaned at all. I believe they vacuumed. That is about it. There was black hair in the bathroom, everywhere. I'm so disappointed in Sailwind apartments. It surely isn't the pictures/promise they give you online. The only benefit is that the apartments are "cheap", however, it really isn't that great of a deal. I have found better deals, in nicer areas/apartments. They are letting this complex fall apart, everything is a temporary fix. It's a shame, these could be nice apts. We had planned on upgrading to a 2 bedroom when our lease is up ,however, we will not be doing so. I am worried about my families health, and if I could afford to break my lease, I would. We will be stuck here for a little under a year, and then find something else that will hopefully suit our needs. I don't think my requests of a safe, clean apartment are out of line, but apparently Sailwind does think so.
I have lived here a year, signed for another year recently. This is my first place living with my wife, nice and cozy for a young couple. But there are people of all ages here, and no one is rude. We got lucky and have very nice neighbors beside us and below us. Me and my husband really enjoy it here. I love this place and have no real complaints. The people in the office are friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept, the laundry rooms are clean as well. The gym is small, but they have two pools. Both are maintained well. The pool nearest me during this (cold, no one swimming anyways) time of year has alot of leaves in it, but I see maintenance out there every day cleaning it. In the summer there is no problem at all with the cleanliness. They are very pet friendly. Soo many people have dogs here, and I've never heard of it being an issue. No dig fights, I don't really hear barking at night aside from the rare occasion. There is dog feces on the grounds, but not littered with it, they do provide bag and trash stations but not all people are courteous. Not their fault. Me and my wife have not really had any maintenance issues but my neighbors that have said they show up quickly, within a day. We had wasps on our porch in the summer and when we mentioned it to one of the maintenance, he came by every morning to spray till it stopped. Honestly, it is the maintenance team that really shows how friendly they are here. The office is friendly, but maintenence always greets you. Actually, my wife loves them right now. They went above and beyond and found our cat for us when she went got out and went missing. My wife had told one her description and if he'd look out for her. Couple hours later she went to tell another and he already knew. Then the next day they brought her home to us. As for another reviewers comment on roaches, I've never had a problem or heard of one. And if you do have them, you just tell the front office and I'm sure they'd send someone to spray. Though I haven't seen them in awhile, pest control does come to the door every so often and ask if we'd like the apartment sprayed. We've never had a need to say yes. Is Sailwind perfect? No. No where is. But their staff certainly tries to be.
