I lived in Mirada apartments for a year. I moved out last week. With all good and bad memories, I'd NOT suggest this residence to anyone, due to the following reasons : 1. Mirada is expensive in compare to similar residences in La Jolla Colony. You most probably can find a more luxurious residence with similar rent, if you start looking early (in Juneor July). In late August or september, Mirada is the only residence with vacant apartments though. But that also tells something about how expensive Mirada is. 2. Mirada is much more crowded and more noisy in compare to other residences in the neighborhood. Now I'm living in residence cross the street, and I'm relieved from the noise late at night and early in the morning. According to the landladies, the apartment I was living in (2226) was one of the least noisy ones, so I can not imagine how much more noisy the rest of them are. 3. Mirada is probably the only residence in neighborhood that would charge you a full extra 30 day rent, if you want to move from one of their 1 bedroom apartments to one of their 2 bedrooms. This was originally my first reason for moving out, but now I'm really glad that I did move out. 4. With all respect,. the landladies at Mirada residence are NOT trustworthy : They would make wrong promises, and they only care about their self benefit, completely ignoring their residents. In my case they deceived me to turn in my keys 38 days before my move out day (I had to move early) and they promised me to find another residence within a week and return me back the rest of my rent. They ended up charging me for the whole 38 days. I blame myself for being decieved and returning the key early. 5. The laundry cost in mirada is 1.5+1.75 = 3.25, while in the more luxurious place that I'm living in, cross the street, the total cost is 1.25$. I'm not talking about the 2$ difference, but it tells me something about principals of how mirada is managed.
I have been reading the reviews here and feel I would like to also add my thoughts... I moved into Mirada at La Jolla Colony about 2 years ago.. I am here only to make going to UCSD easy on my son, otherwise I would not be here at all.. Concerning the management staff; they are sort of hot and cold... most of the staff are friendly and make me feel my needs are important; however there is one that was less than helpful.. (Leaving that person's name out intentionally) she is not always the best in helping out when things need attention.. for instance; my smoke alarm starting going off near the end of the day, I called the office to ask for someone to come check it and replace the battery... I am not a young person and not tall enough to reach the ceiling.. nor do I own a ladder... they told me that the alarm going off was not an emergency and that if it bothered me, to fix it myself... so when it went off again at 2:30 am.. I did fix it.. I removed it and then disabled it forever... My sons car has been hit twice during the night due to the small parking spaces... the office said they were not responsible and that we don't have to park there... however, there is no where else to park.. not even on the street..lol..... various kinds of work, including construction and pavement to be done on the grounds happens periodically; workers are allowed to show up with very noisy equipment at 7:30 am... the gardeners and maintenance crew who do work on the grounds cause grass cuttings, leaves and dirt to be flung onto our patios... if we do not go out and clean it up ourselves, the office staff may leave a note on your door and tell you that you are violating your lease agreement and to clean up the mess... .... there isn't any cooling, so when the temperature outside hits close to 100 degrees, it can easily reach the low 90s inside.. it is very noisy most days... however, I must disagree with other reviews in that, I really don't hear my neighbors much at all I have good neighbors for the most part... except for that one above me who likes to pound some kind of twigs that are laying out on mats on the floor.. she said that is how she cooks.. lmao.. Parking is very poor due to the spaces not being large enough to properly park any vehicle larger than a compact car.. Here is my grading for this property... Office staff overall - B; Ample parking, A+; Parking space size, F; Promptness of maintenance staff; A (maintenance staff had nothing to do with the smoke alarm incident) Grounds upkeep and maintenance; A- (careless gardeners who leave a mess on our patios keep this from being A+) ......
Worst Apartment ever. You will not get deposit back as well.
Awful service, the sales manager lady feels she is the owner; shes rude and does not have any customer service skills; she forgot that she is a normal sales comision employee. Apartments really small for price nothing cool there for their maganers attitude, they behave like if you were renting in La Jolla Shores.
The management really seems to hate their jobs and the people that rent from them, totally agree with the awful, standoffish service. Apartments get hot and stuffy- no air, no cross-ventilation. Ridiculous parking spots.
