This place has gone from bad to worse. The property resembles a slum, garbage piles up every weekend, maintenance issues have to wait because of "other priorities" and management has no concern because they don't have to live here, Instead of concentrating on issues that could be easily corrected, the priority was to get the halls painted and new carpeting...really???...in winter???? Clearly there is a lack of a maintenance crew because the new owners want to save money...as if we're not paying enough already. These new owners have more money than brains. The only reason I stay is because it's the only place in Portsmouth that will allow a dog. If you can avoid renting here...do so at all costs!!!
Don't be fooled by new management and new name, this is the same old Beechstone, between bills going up, trash still never being picked up, now we have heat issues where we either don't have it or the system thumps to the point you can't sleep. The management still doesn't care mostly because they don't live here, and even as they break the lease agreement they act like the issues are minor. Their construction crew for the roof left our pannel open and our cat got lost in the roof, they didn't care or apologize, luckily the cat found his way into the neighbors apartment. Honestly if you can avoid moving here, do. Read the reviews for Beechstone!
This is not a place I would recommend to anyone I care about!!! They market themselves as luxury apartments! They are anything but luxury....fixtures and carpet are worn and should have been replaced long ago...... When I moved in they told me they had it professionally cleaned and I found dog poop on the carpet in the bedroom when moving furniture in. They love to state how dog friendly they are and have residents sign a lease that clearly states they need to pick up after their own dogs or risk a fine. They don't follow up on that! I pick up after my own dog, as any responsible dog owner should!!! But many residents here do not fall within the "responsible" category....dog sh@t everywhere. I keep a clean and nice apartment inside and outside on my deck....others have parties and leave trash all over their deck and common areas, Dump! I did not move in expecting to live in a complex like this. Complaints are ignored and the office staff treat you like you are a not worth their time!! I started out very patient and never complained throughout the winter fiasco!! My patience is gone. Cold rainy days this week and I wanted to put the heat on to take off the chill. Come to fine out no heat! I am in a ground level unit and it is chilly! I pay for the heat but can't use it because they shut the system off ! Sure it is June but we are in New Hampshire and weather is not easily predicted just by the month on the calendar!!! I HATE living here!!!!
I honestly wish i could give a "0" star rating. This was the worst place i have ever lived, and i grew up in Lawrence Ma. So that says a lot!!! This place is straight bogus, the way the place is so poorly constructed, the Maintenance men have no idea what they're doing and are total Perverts. (They have made comments toward my wifes Breasts and have hit on her several times when walking from car to apartment making her very uncomfortable. I made a complaint to the office and was given attitude from 3 different ladies (they did nothing to fix the situation) All they said was "All of our Maintenance men have gone through a pretty extensive background check". During my 1 Year lease, the ceiling in our Master Bedroom leaked from our upstairs neighbors shower ( Yes, every time they showered water would leak into our bedroom.) This Happened the ENTIRE time we lived there! Maintenance NEVER fixed the problem, but were there to fix it several times! Probably just to snoop around! This ruined our Brand new King size mattress and they said if we do not have renters insurance there is nothing that can be done. There is a huge issue with bugs in the summer time! People with pets do not clean up after their dogs so there is POOP EVERYWHERE! They also gave me an extremely hard time about my Pitbull Terrier and said "Anyone here with a Pitbull is a registered service or therapy dog" Yeah i'm sure all 20 Pitbulls ive seen there were registered service dogs!!! The front door that goes into the hall way leading to everyones personal entrance was broken for over 6 months before they decided to fix it (back door is still broken to this day) so security in this place is very minimal! Our mail man would not leave packages unless we were home to sign for them and show ID because people would steal packages that did not belong to them! First month of living there the bi-fold closet door fell off its hinges and they NEVER fixed it even though i brought it to their attention right away! The shower backed up no matter how much draino we used in our Bottom floor apt. People party every night in the summer time blasting music and yelling outside. The heat in the winter time is horrible, it is either too cold or too hot there is no happy medium. The windows are very old and all the cold air comes right through! You are not allowed to use any colored curtains (Only white) (We got a threat of Eviction if we did not change our curtains to white!!!) At the end of your lease you better make your place clean enough to eat off of any surface! They will charge you "Fees" for any work that they need to do in there when you leave! (Stove is not clean? $75.00 BAM!) Now imagine the rest! Also just shortly after moving in, there was a "Crime Scene Investigator" truck parked next door for an entire day cleaning up a dead body. They would not tell us how this Young man died. They did not even tell us that a man died we had to hear it through the grapevine! I seriously could go on and on but i think i made my point here. This is the worst place to live.
This is absolutely the WORST place I have EVER lived. Once you sign the least the management could care less about you. Take DAYS for maintenance to come fix something and when they do, they can just walk right in with no notice at all. (And can walk in with NO notice for ANY reason at all.) The utility company they use is a joke. Just a call center out of New York. Charge you everything if you want to pay the bill online instead of mailing a check or cash in (don't take payments over the phone either) and the management team neglects to tell you that when you move in. ALSO they don't tell you how the breakdown of the utilities are. The way they "split up" the charges is/should be illegal. So you could try to conserve water/gas all you want, if someone else in your building is using a lot you're stuck paying for it. The trash pickup is ridiculous (which is part of that insane utility bill.) The trash is PILED up and outside all the bins constantly. One month after living there we decided we HATED it and wanted to leave but they lock you in the lease and they told us that we would lose our security deposit (which I expected) and that we could be financially responsible for charges that incur while the apartment sits vacant for the length of our lease, WHAT?! We finally were able to get out of there and they charged us "damages" for the stupidest things. I spent THREE DAYS cleaning that apartment spotless and they still charged us almost $200 in "damages" which included Steam Cleaning the kitchen floor. That isn't standard procedure for when a new tenant moves in?! Lastly, the office was rude as HELL! I work in Customer Service and know how to keep my calm and be nice in all situations but they even had ME storming out and slamming the door in their faces. UGH! Horrible DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!!!
