The best thing about living here was location, it was a solid 4 minute drive to work for me which was amazing but management here is AWFULLL. we can start with the fact that they are almost NEVER in the office during they scheduled open hours which makes it really hard to get anything done. Lets start with when I first moved in the shower drain was clogged and the toilet upstairs was too. They came and fixed it within a day or so but having to call maintenance the first day there sucked. We moved in in october and our heat broke TWICE that first winter. Then when snow melted water leaked in our living room window getting water all over the carpet and water leaked in under the downstairs door. The seals on the doors and windows were crap. My bedroom window had an opening big enough somewhere that a bumblebee was able to fit in along with the few huge spiders and stink bugs I saw so I almost never opened my window. The windows are super thin so they were frosted all winter and you can hear everything through them. Which brings me to the thin walls and horrible U-shape of the building. The neighbors were always out back loud. I think there was a million kids always running around screaming (also pulling flowers out of a pot I planted) one of them would literally stand back there and scream as loud as possible for like 5 minutes straight and the parents never did anything. When summer came around and we tried to use the air conditioning it was also broken. Management claimed it was because everyone turned their air on at once and it overloaded it but then it proceeded to take an ENTIRE MONTH TO FIX. Our kitchen was completely infested with ants starting in April and they were still there when we moved out in october. There would be hundreds of them crawling around in our dishwasher at a time. It took complaining 3 times before they finally said they would send an "exterminator" instead of telling me trying to lay cinnamon down where I think they're entering. Well exterminator to them consisted of sending the maintenance guy with a bottle of spray. It worked for about a week and then they were back again. About 3 different times they put a notice on our door saying we still owed money for the month which we didn't. When we would ask them about it they would say "there was a mix up". Mix up my ass!! They are scammers!! We paid a 250$ deposit and I just recieved a notice saying that we would not be getting it back and that we owed another 230$. 285$ for cleaning (which we did before we left) 75$ for items left behind (to my knowledge couldn't have been more than one box), 51$ for rent which we didnt owe before we moved out so not sure how that works and 27$ for gas and electric which we paid through a separate company not even to them! I also know a couple other people that lived here that had it much worse than us. One of them left on vacation for 2 weeks and left a few things for maintenance to be fixed. When she came back they had left the lights on running up electric, they peed in the toilet got it all over and didn't flush and to top it off her birth certificate and her social security card were missing. Maintenance would make random appearances but none of them would be on record. The other had pipes burst and flood and apartment. And the other could constantly hear her neighbor beating and yelling at their children. I would say you are better off not even bothering with this place. I could keep going on and on with the list of things wrong with here.
I really want to like living here, but its hard to look past some things. The maintenance guys are really nice but they are either spread really thin with lots of issues to see to, or Elms really needs to hire more help. I understand and don't expect instant results, however having to wait 2 months for them to get around to a request is just dumb. The laminate flooring is great, minus the fact that its easy to tear it up if you are not careful when moving furniture around. I have lived in apartments for the past 10 or so years, but never have I lived in one where it feels like you could talk to your neighbor through the walls....we can hear EVERYTHING, that is highly annoying. If it was not for the school district we would be moving. I really could go on with the annoyances sadly....but I think you get the drift. I have no idea how other residents feel, these are just my issues that have occurred personally.
you can literally hear everything your neighbors say and do. ive lived a lot of places and this place has paper thin walls.
I live here and the stupid office is never open they are always changing their hours. So if you need something its always a pain to get help
