I've been here almost 5 years. I think I've come to lower my expectations in places to live because I almost gave this place 4 stars. My only real complaint is how often people get brought over here to look at my home now as I'm moving out and it's overpriced for what you get. Everything is very old, for some folks that would be " eclectic and charming" Long story short: you pay for location here that's pretty much it.
Mozart management is grown big enough to treat new prospective tenants as a crap, rules do not make any sense. Will never try to rent anything anymore!
I stayed at Schenley Arms for two years. Overall very good service... I called them once at 1am Sunday morning for fix the toilet, and they were there within 1 hour. Can't say more. The buildings are old though, and they check your place with very short notice.
Despite paying our first months rent three months in advance, when there was a cosigner signature missing they gave us a 48 hour ultimatum or else they would terminate our lease and keep our rent. It was a Saturday evening, and they would not concede to 48 BUSINESS hours, they wanted it before close MONDAY. Being that the cosigner was out of state, I had to drive 19 hours in two days to get the signature and bring it back because no shipping company could have gotten it back that quickly. - When we wanted to add a third lessee, to our THREE BEDROOM apartment, they treated us like we were crazy, like criminals, like we demanded their first born child. I was aggressively confronted and scolded like a child. It took 5 or 6 visits before they would actually allow us to do it. - They have rules about locking your bicycle on the building's rack, one of them being it must be in working condition. Apparently removing your $120 saddle so it doesn't get stolen or damaged in the winter is considered not working condition. They cut my lock, removed my bike, 'disposed' of it, all without any warning. - On 4 separate occasions I have woken up to find unannounced, unrequested management staff in my apartment. - The heating sucks, one bedroom will be 90 degrees while another is 50. The AC is just as bad, except you get charged out the wazoo for using it. - On many occasions I have found my mail opened inside my mailbox, it continues to happen despite reports to the post office. - I give them 2 stars instead of 1, only because the doormen that work in my building are exceptionally friendly. That is the only good thing I can say about the whole company.
Renting from mozart management is one of the worst decisions of my life. These are my main grievances: 1. apartments are not cleaned by former tenants. "Broom clean" essentially means filthy. No security deposit means former tenants have no incentive to keep apartment in good condition. Expect the walls, floors, and ceiling to be stained and dirty. 2. Unannounced housekeeping survey. Someone will come to you door and open it and will look around your apartment, happened to me 3 times. It it is invasive to a tenant. 3. They charge you to fix clogged drains. 4. The rental agreement is something out of a science fiction novel. It is not a standard lease agreement so beware. Beth can quote the lease like the gospel. Read it very well! 5. Fedex and the post office did not deliver many packages because in my building, the wendover annex, there is no way to buzz the apartment without having a phone line. Who has landlines anymore? 6. Laundry is $1.50 for washing and another $1.50 for drying. For the drying cycle you only get 45 minutes so make sure you aren't drying a whole lot. Its $5 just to get the laundry card. 7. Front doors and back doors do not close most of the time by themselves so basically anyone can get in, accept when I need a package to be delivered. In conclusion, do not rent from mozart at all costs.
