When we arrived they upgraded our room which was great but as soon as we walked in there was mold all over the ceiling just inside the door. Both of the bathroom ceilings had a lot of mold, many badly broken tiles and an overall dirty feel to the room. The front desk was accommodating and moved us right away to another room which instantly felt more comfortable and clean but again lot's of mold on the ceiling. The bathroom door was broken and my husband and daughter both got stuck in there. When we did call we were made to feel like it was our fault by the maintenance guy. The waterfall for the pool was broken, you have to pay for seats on the beach and lastly, we made a couple of in room purchases and the hotel put an additional $500 hold on our card. We have NEVER experience that before!!! Normally all the charges are settled at check out. We had high hopes and usually don't complain but this has not been a very good experience.
We had one of the Suites. It was right on the ocean just like they said. The staff was helpful and cheerful. Great location, quiet, but close enough to South beach that you have the option for more excitement St your fingers!
Stayed with my family and a large groups of friends at the hotel for a week, in order to get married at the hotel and enjoy Miami. The website and pictures make it seem like it's better than the real thing. The amenities (pool, utilities, apartments) are quite fine, but most of the service (including vallet and room service), most of the staff, and Shula's restaurant are far from good. During our wedding (the hotel and Shula catered for it), we were served dry steaks, burned fish, and the waiters were often not around to get our requests. I would not recommend the hotel to others, specially if you plan to have a wedding there. The room they gave us for the wedding had very bad lighting and the catering prices and quality too inferior for the price we paid per person. One of our friends had a 1-year old baby with them and had to be moved around 3 times because the construction was waking the baby up all the time and nobody cared to give them a good room to start with. Hotel location is great, as are the pools and the beach nearby. PS: In the suite I stayed in with family, we found hair on the sink upon walking in and a bucket of paint with paint inside right next to ktichen cooking pots...
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE GOOD REVIEWS! The rooms had not been renovated in 50 years. My floor was literally coming off in some spots and was nasty. The walls and ceilings were peeling and the whole place was dingy. I have never seen a hotel like this, even ones charging half the price. The bathrooms were nastier than gas stations and there were huge black spots all over the bathtub/shower. That did not matter much since there was NO HOT WATER IN THE ENTIRE HOTEL! Other people complained that their room was so neglected that their door actually fell off! Bottom line, I payed around $200 a night expecting what they call a Junior Suite based on their photos online and got something disgusting that I never would have got string at a $100 a night hotel. They should not even call themselves a hotel, its not clean enough. They just charge fee's like crazy. Anyone else who publishes good reviews here clearly has not seen other hotels for the same prices. Or any hotels, period.
Popcorn ceilings, really are we back in the 80's construction and noise all day from the hotel, bathrooms are hideous mold on the floors shower curtin smells, kitchen stove looks like it's 20 years old looks like they didn't care about this place what a shame.
