I will admit that some of the negative reviews regarding administration processes are pretty close to accurate. But I don't think that should be your prime concern when choosing where to be educated. The University of Memphis is a place where, (at least in the business school), you can learn firsthand from people that have become quite accomplished in their given profession. One reviewer said that you only learn from people inexperienced in the business world, this couldn't be further from the truth. For example, my Marketing class was taught by a Vice President of Marketing from FedEx. My business law class was taught by a former attorney. My financial management class was taught by a financial reporter and trader who had done quite well for himself. My statistical analysis class was taught by a man who had advised a large city's mayor's office on multi-million dollar decisions. Networking is also an immense advantage offered by the University of Memphis. Through extra-curricular programs and University sponsored job fairs, I was able to make many contacts in the corporate world and ultimately ended up being hired by a Fortune 500 company that I hadn't even been aware of prior to coming to UM. The opportunity to learn and network are there for the taking. You just have to be the proactive type. I am very thankful for the opportunities afforded to me by this University.

This school...such a waste. If you want an MBA- GO ANYWHERE ELSE. If you want an undergrad degree- go ANYWHERE ELSE. I would not send my child here if this were totally free of charge. Things like this: You have people running business schools who have never been in business IN THEIR LIFE. That's akin to a pilot flying a plane who has only read about how to fly one, but never actually done it. Would you get on board that plane? No? Then don't go here. The inefficient bureaucracy, the absence of concern, the absolute piss poor systems...they run nothing like a business should. And no wonder. The application process was a disaster. An absolute disaster. Links on websites continuously don't work. They have things like "This form must be typed" but you can only download it in a non-editable .pdf file. I'm sorry but my typewriter was given up a long time ago. I could go on for a very long time, but this place is not for you. Just simply don't do it. You'll be so much better off for it. I wish I had chosen otherwise.

Why are all the "Notable Alumni" sports figures? Surely their are notable scholars as well. After all this is a University isn't it?

Great school, great teachers, and great experience. My education from UM has served me well over the years, and I am grateful for the institution.
