I moved here in 2014 thinking it was a great first small apartment for me. I was so wrong. While it was quiet for the most part since I lived in the back, the apartment had every issue possible. Upon move in, it was filthy and they assured me it was "deep cleaned". Then, I noticed the countertops weren't even level since anything round I set on there rolled right off. The cabinets had screws missing. The bathroom had mold painted over. They charged me $50 to change the locks to get my abusive boyfriend away from me. Finally, and thankfully upon move out, I packed up fast and left. But of course! They told me I owed money due to an underpayment ? Somehow - yet I got my deposit back. So they put it on my credit report to be total lovely people. I fought that, thankfully that's off, and I really hope for no one to ever move here and go through this crap. They look nice. They do. But they're crappy apartments and the agents screw you over.
Being in the military, my family and I have had our share of apartment living. However, this has been the WORST experience by far and thankfully this will be our last apartment that we will ever live in. Save your sanity by not living in a downstairs unit if you can help it. Otherwise, you will hear every single stomp, bump, bang, jump, you name it, which contributes to your lights flickering and even going completely out. Oh and when they go out, especially the fancy track lighting in the kitchen which definitely will, you have to replace the bulb with your own money (as if they're not already nickel and diming you for everything else). The construction is absolutely HORRIBLE and CHEAP and you will be affected by every single thing your neighbors do. Including them letting water overflow in their bathroom which will cause your ceiling to leak. This will surely contribute to mold I am sure! I surely wish we had a trial run before signing the lease because we would have NOT signed it! We are counting the days until we leave this terrible apartment. We met a couple who had the exact same complaints as we did so please do not rent here as it is not just us. MAA definitely failed with this one.
Apartments are small for the price. Well, the walls are thin as paper. I can hear next door guys so clearly. Outside, walkways, water ponds, and management is good.
NOISE, Cheap construction and trashy neighbors. The walls are ridiculously thin and you can hear conversations word for word. The neighbors are young and loud, so I enjoy crystal clear colorful language with physical stomping and banging day and night, but especially after 2:30 PM as this is when the loudest and "brightest" of these idiots arrives home. The fancy track lighting in my kitchen and other ceiling lights flicker with each step taken by them above. And yes, they even have a baby! Immature children trying to raise a baby who, not surprisingly, screams non-stop. But hey, at least they have cool cars with spoilers - now, how classy is that! Please don't rent here. These neighbors aside, there is no excuse for this shoddy construction. Save your sanity and find a place with some degree of noise protection between units.
We are thankful that we had considerate neighbors because if we didn't we would have gone crazy! What a noisy place! We heard EVERY step that our petite upstairs neighbor took in the 7 months that we lived there. In the morning, we heard the alarm clocks of every neighbor near us. We heard our neighbor coughing all night long (and doing other things occasionally). The air conditioning units are right outside the bedroom windows, so you can't open the window without being bombarded by that noise. Cars drive through the complex - fast - at all hours. Horns! Car alarms! Awful music! Banging from who-knows-where! We've stayed in nicer cheap hotels. Plus the breakers kept popping for no apparent reason. The gym, which honestly is nicely equipped, is usually filthy. I cannot believe that my fellow residents don’t pick up after themselves. Even worse, the complex rarely cleans the gym. But the pool is lovely. It would have been lovelier had our fellow residents not allowed their children to ride their bikes on the pool apron or run around with water cannons. (One young child even had a bb gun!) This is one of two apartment complexes in the area that charges a monthly fee for cats - $20/month. Ridiculous! Moreover, we had a cat pass and when we told the office and asked that they remove the monthly fee for that cat, they refused. Moreover, they charge $50 a month for the “free” basic cable that they offer. If you want more than basic cable, e.g. internet or more cable options, you double pay for cable, because you have to pay the full amount to BrightHouse PLUS the $50/month. They also charge $5.01 per month to bill you for the water usage, cable, etc. Ridiculous. Finally, various solicitors have discovered Colonial Grand and are constantly knocking on your door selling magazines, asking for donations. I would NOT recommend this apartment complex, especially after getting bitten by a pit bull that they theoretically don’t allow in the complex. BEWARE!
