I have started leaving in Pointe last year. I moved to their newly renovated apt . I liked it very much. There is no issue from leasing office till now. Their maintenance guys are quick and professional. I found their leasing office people smiling and helpful.
Its been a month at pointe. As of now i didn't find any issues with the apartment. Had a small maintenance issue, which was taken care in a day or two. The main thing was in this one month, even once i didnt find the main gate locked at least after 6 or in weekends. I don't know what is the problem, being a gated community this should be the main concern to be taken care of.
I lived at The Pointe from August '14 to February '16. Before I get too far in depth about the complex I would like to let the readers know two of my favorite things about the complex. 1. Anna, who is one of the Leasing Agents, is hands down one of the best! She's very courteous, professional, knowledgeable and it was always an enjoyable experience walking into the front office for whatever the reason and being greeted by her sincere smile. 2. Their Maintenance staff is quick, professional, friendly, and they too, deserve a big shout out as well! Thank you fellas! Now for the down and dirty... when i moved in (Aug '14), the apartment was filthy and crawling with cockroaches, The Pointe was however bought by a different management company and I started to see some changes. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the tall, dark complected "leasing professional" that was brought in toward the end of my stay, but she was extremely rude. When I came in to the office to turn in my two months notice, she turned the light off on me while I was filling out the paperwork... I mean... who does that? (and yes, it was dark outside). From my own observations, she was very aggressive with customers, and I for one, would have left if that were my first experience at The Pointe. She is however gone, but I feel that information should be made public. They are in the process of remodeling their units and I was offered the opportunity to move in to a newly renovated unit, but declined the offer after sitting on it for a few months; i did however view the renovated units for myself. The units are upgraded, appealing to the eye (interior), and clean. In my opinion, the rent they are asking is too steep for the area you're in. I moved to a ritzier area of Charlotte and though my commute to work is longer and pay a little more than I would if I were at the pointe, but the peace of mind is worth the extra money. With that said, I would highly encourage anyone to do their homework on the area. Gates and bogus security guards are a false sense of security - in my opinion that is. I will give credit where do, and when I spoke with management, they were proactive in looking into other methods of security. The only benefit I found to living at The Pointe was the convenient commute to work, I-77, uptown Charlotte, and the ability to grab a quick bite to eat without having to drive too far. Again, do your homework on this complex. I'm trying to be objective about this review, but the area significantly brings the quality down. Management does their best, they are good people, and I thank the team for putting up with me. I gave the complex three stars because I couldn't give it two and half.
If you want a quite morning forget about it. Lawn care with airplane engine blowers start at 8am and never stop..between construction and daily trucks you will have not one peaceful quiet morning here. I've been here since August and it is always this way. No consideration for residents right to peaceful living.
There are cons and pros like every where else.. but the longer I live here the more cons I have. cons: - Security - huge problem in the community!!! They say it is gated community, but the gate is open all day long and close only at night time. The gate got broken so many times that it does not make any difference whether it is closed or open. The bottom line is, everyone can access the community any time and do what they want! people that don't live in the community came over all summer long and used our pool, gym and basketball court. Car break ins where reported multiple times. The most ridiculous thing that happened to me was that my baby jogging stroller was stolen in the day time while I was carrying my baby to my apartment. - Broken gate - It doesn't protect the community at all, however it did close on some cars because of malfunction and scratched very badly. I doubt that the community management did anything to reimburse the owners for the damage. The lease and the signs around the community specifically claims that they are not responsible for any damage to you or your property, does not matter what happened and why. - In one of the comments above.. the owner claimed that they don't charge pet rent. I don't know if they have changed their rules.. but it is not true for my case. We paid like $300 non refundable pet fee and we are paying pet rent $15/month. The lease also claims that we will be responsible for cleaning and shampooing the carpet regardless of how much we already paid. I got a small cat. Should I send her to get a job or something? - After we signed a lease and lived here for almost a year, we did not plan to move for another year. We got a small baby and moving at this point is extremely difficult. neither we wanted to pay application fees, pet fees, deposits and others fees once again in a different community. you know we are not making millions yet. But since the management of the community changed, they decided to start renovating all the apartments in the community and let us sign a new lease for another 6 months. The new lease says that in that time frame, they can go ahead and start renovating our apartment while we still live there. They will move us for a week into a quest apartment but we will have to come and move our stuff from room to room during this week so they can complete the renovation. This is the worst thing they can do to their residents, really. We just did not have time or possibility to move.. that is why we bought our own place now and are getting ready to move out soon. I am also thankful that they have not started to renovate our apartment while we still live here and hope they will only start doing it when we move out. The rent is expected to rise by more than $250 after they complete the renovation. - I hate that my neighbor bellow smoke on their patio 24/7/365, I never can open my windows and breath fresh air.. and I have a baby at home. I wish they had some kind of smoking restriction or designated places for smoking. - They build bark-park but they can't put some kind of small play ground for kids. - The gym equipment is broken and A/C in the gym never works.. it just get so stinky in there because there is no air circulation. especially when there are people coming that does not live in this community. - car towing is just getting ridiculous. I had my sister and her husband came for a visit and their car got towed on the first night they got here because they parked a little bit on the line with a front wheel. They did not occupy 2 parking spots and parked in between 2 other cars that really limited their parking space. Some towing company is making some easy money on us and the community got agreement with them. Furthermore, since they started renovation, trucks are parked all over the community residential parking spots. And they keep claiming that we have parking problem for residents. Pros: the staff is really good, friendly and helpful; the apartments were really nice for the initial price and I really enjoyed the pool when it was not overcrowded.
