HUD residents usually pay 30 of their gross income for rent. The rent amount, less approved HUD deductions such as medical and child care expenses, and other allowances, includes a utility allowance. HUD Residents also choose to pay what is known as flat rent. The HACC works with applicants to determine which rent arrangement is best for them. Assisi Village is part of Our Lady of the Lake's Elderly Housing Complex, a series of residential apartment complexes for income-eligible seniors 4FM0K5 or those aged 62 and older. Each single bedroom, single bath unit includes a kitchen with a refrigerator and stove, and a living room dining room. The complex was built under the Housing and Urban Development Divisions Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program to provide financial assistance to seniors in need in a that is beneficial to their needs and health. There is on-site laundry, and low-cost afternoon meals offered Monday through Friday.
