Came here on a Thursday and didn't have to pay a cover charge. IDs need to be checked before you even walk into the hotel, so make sure you do that before heading up the escalator. Doors open at 9pm. Once up the elevator you walk out onto a patio filled with lots of benches, chairs, and a beer garden. The servers were very fast and took orders very efficiently. Drinks are normal pricing for DTLA. The views are spectacular from the rooftop. DJ played a lot of fun tunes and the crowd was nice. It never got too crowded which was nice.
Ok... I'm sure if you want to enjoy a drink with a great view after work for happy hour, this does offer an amazing view. However, please be advised.... you never want to go to their "paid" rooftop events. If you have to pay, pass on it. We saw the invitation to go to this pool party on a Sat. (Memorial Day weekend). Entrance was $20 per person, parking $7. We get up there and the crowd was ghetto and the pool was closed off for renovations (even though the invitation clearly stated that it was a pool party, you couldn't even see the pool). When I asked for a refund they gave me attitude and were like "well, you were up there for a while".... All I had to say was that we drove 1/2 an hour to go to this (when we could have chosen to go to another real pool party), then we paid for parking, met up with friends that WE suggested go to meet us there.... at this point, we were already out hours of our time.... the least they could have done was be nice but they just couldn't. Stay away if you have to pay. There are dozens of other rooftop bars in L.A. if you are just looking for a bar and/or a view. You could enjoy most of those for free.
snooty places like the rooftop at the standard is a bit too pretentious for me. On fridays and Saturday you actually have to pay 20 buckeroos just to get up there..kind of unheard of in DTLA bars! Not to mention parking for another $10 ! We were lucky to be there slightly early to get free parking ... So What if you have a pool upstairs! It can't even be used! ...its all purely for the sake of feeling "grand"! If your looking for the view that they def do have, you might as well go to places like the Perch! My friend did get a penthouse suite to celebrate his big bday bash - though the penthouse suite was spacious their restroom setup was kind of weird! Btw, having a suite only warrants you 2 bracelet pass to get up to the roof top.
You have to know that you come here to enjoy the view, the drink and the company! It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night and there was already a long line at 9. After a great dinner at the Perch,we were already on our way up to get more drinks at the roof top bar. Patio heaters and fire bowls were available. Overall, it was an amazing experience of a good ambience.
I went on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. I checked online before going and they said they except cards at the door, but when I got there they said only cash, so I had to go all the way across to an ATM and waste more money to get cash, it's expansive enough as is to pay $20 to get in, and get very expansive food (very limited options) and drinks. They defiantly need directional signage for how to get to the roof, we had accidentally gone all the way to the top from another end thinking we would pay at the door there, but they made us go all the way back and come back again, it was insane. There wasn't even a good view up there, the music wasn't even upbeat enough to dance, the bathrooms are small and weird, and if you don't go early you wont have anywhere to sit.
