This is the safest place we've lived in. Great for me and my kids. Love the fact that it's within walking distance to 2 different parks, 2 elementry schools, 1 jr high, rec center that has the best indoor AND outdoor pool and gym. It's a great place.
I had to move a few months ago due to bed bug infestation. I know a lot of people in the building where I was living that was infested and told the office and they would spray but then they would come back because they didn't spray the whole building. Worse management and since they started to except Section 8 its becoming very ghetto.
3.0 stars. I rented a 1 bdr for 18 months. It's relatively safe and the neighbors are fairly quiet for the most part--but the walls and ceilings are pretty thin, so I could hear doors slamming and any conversations that were louder than inside voices. There are a few d-bags that will play their music loud on weekends, but at least not during the week. I will say that you should watch your step on the grass and even on the sidewalks, as not everyone cleans up after their dogs. While I was there, there was quite a bit of move ins/outs in the units around me... The location is the main reason I chose this place; it's 2 minutes from the 95 and just a few more to the 215. That makes it a quick drive to anywhere east or south of the "Spaghetti Bowl" (where the 95 and I-15 meet). I worked off Charleston heading towards Sunrise Mtn, and could still get to work in less than 20 mins unless there was bad luck on the 95. It's just on the northern edge of Henderson and just a couple miles from Boulder Hwy, but this place is relatively safe. Any further east and you'd be getting into some sketchy neighborhoods. Further south is much more secure, but more expensive. My unit was on the first floor facing Patrick Dr (across the street from 2 elementary schools) and I did have a couple of Amazon packages stolen from my front door. My neighbor (who had lived there for 2 years before I moved in) had said that a few units had been broken into during her stay, but I had never seen anything mine. She ended up moving when some patio furniture had been vandalized on her porch. We both lived on the 1st floor--not that it was her fault, but I would never leave anything on a 1st floor porch. The staff here has never been unfriendly to me. In fact, even during a management change, the employees were fairly cool to me and anyone else I saw in the leasing office. When I reported problems with outside lighting being out, they were fixed within 2 days. My fridge broke down on a Friday night and they came in and fixed it by Saturday afternoon. The parking lots aren't always clean, and there is the aforementioned dog droppings left on the grass, but overall they keep the place maintained despite the messy tenants. Public Works recently finished widening Whitney Ranch from Russell to Sunset and put in a traffic light at the intersection of Patrick and Whitney Ranch, so it even looks nicer streetside. I'd recommend this place if you're on a budget but still want to be in a semi-decent neighborhood that is close to highway access. If it was more expensive, I'd drop it down to 2.5 stars. But at the price, I can tolerate the neighbors and the mess in the public areas. ***Added March 2015: Had another package stolen off the doorstep. This one was taken before noon (I came home for lunch when my package tracking showed it was delivered at 11:00 am). The only consolation is that the company I ordered from refunded me. If you move here, make sure to get signature confirmation for your deliveries.
The office personnels don't know what they are doing. The water is being shut off every other week without notice. Maintenance comes into your home without notice. Water is always leaking somewhere. The outlets don't work. The rails keep falling of because of cheap plaster. All the doors and cabinets are crooked and at an angle. There is dog poop everywhere with cigarette butts. The office keeps screwing up your rent balance and late fees. If you choose to live here, log EVERYTHING!!! All the phone calls, maintenance request, and neighbor disturbances. Read up on your lease and the Clark County regulations on rental rights and responsibilities. Get Everything IN WRITING!! Remember, if it's not written down, it never happened. Educate yourself and you'll be your best advocate. Also, BRING WITNESSES. The positive if the school is across and the sizes of the apartments are spacious. You'll have to weigh the pros and cons. My scale is tipping towards nay. Side thought, If the tenants were able to unionize and get their issues together, surely, management would become aware the office personals were incompetent. As a result all the maintene issues, grounds keeping problem, and rental errors would be addressed. They'd hire more crew members.
New management is worse than the old one! Do not move here now! Called about our dryer being broken and it took them 2 1/2 weeks to come out and replace it. We were unable to do any laundry for that time and they just do not care. They never answer their office phone and I honestly don't think they know what they're doing in that office.
