Worst Place ever!!!! I don,t know who to contact with the following letter and situation. Please help me to find the correct person. Some time ago I was about to rent an apartment. After signing the lease in the afternoon, I went to the place and, when starting to move somethings in, I found out that it was flooded. Immediately the next day I went to this people and explain that I was not interested anymore in the apartment and that they should not try to rent an apartment that is not in condition to be rented. I try to get an agreement a good faith agreement, but, even when I was trying to be reasonable, they said that I signed a contract and had to pay for it. They offer, in order to dismiss the contract, that I pay 12,000 dollars and if someone rent the apartment they will give me the remaining part of the money minus the amount that correspond to the time that the apartment was not rented . They told me that If I don't do that they will charge me 4,000 with no opportunity to get my money back if they rent the apartment. As you can see all that options sound pretty unfair to me, since I got the keys the night before only to find out that the apartment was not in condition to be lived.Since those were their option and they wanted to force me to sign an unfair agreement in order to give the apartment keys back, I just gave them the keys to the guy who gave me the keys the day before and told them that whatever we need to discuss must be with my lawyer. I took photos of the apartment and also have a witness of the condition of the apartment and the requirements that this people asked for. After that, they sent an email 2 weeks later saying that the apartment was fixed, I did not really understood why they were sending that , if I was clear that was not interested in living there. I never heard from them again until a couple of weeks ago when I received a bill for 4,000. How this can be , If I never live in there. The same day that I noticed the problem I gave the keys back and cancelled all the gas and electric service. How can be people so mean, that knowing that they did wrong and that the person never live in an apartment, they still want to take a huge part of the year income just like that. Is this legal? The worst thing is that I was working to improve my credit score and they just damaged it. How people without resources, like me have to fight, without energy and income, against this type of businesses. I tried at the moment to find legal advise , even when I have no money, but they tell me that I have to wait until they try to collect money. What can I do? We need some law that protect the consumer from predators like this. Please Help!!!! Please answer soon. Sincerely,
I have had by far the worst living experience here at Stoneridge. I moved in here July of 2012. While things started out okay it quickly started going downhill. Our biggest problem is that we have hot water about 40% of the time. I have been told that when its windy or very cold the pilot gets blown out. At which point you do not have heat or hot water until a service man comes to light it, at which point they tell you to wait a half hour to take a shower. So imagine a Sunday night you are trying to get yourself and your kids ready for the next day only to find out you either have to 1. wait an hour to someone to come and fix the problem 2. take a freezing cold shower or 3. go to work and school without a shower. This is what choices you have when you pay $1,800/month. At one point I had heat and no hot water. When I went down to the office they told me I have to turn down the heat for the water to get hot. That's right...... take a hot shower and have no heat, or take a cold shower and have your heat on. ABSOLUTLEY RIDICULOUS!!!! but it gets worse..... the people in the front office have the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Yoseph is actually the most helpfully and I suggest if you go down there you talk to him if you are having any problems. The hot water issue is the main reason we are leaving here.... but here's the best part....... when your lease is up you cannot just leave. You have to give 60 days notice. So good luck finding anywhere that is going to rent to you 60 days out if you are looking to move into a townhouse or something along those lines. So basically they expect you to put in your notice if you plan on leaving at the end of your lease even if you don't have a place to go yet, which is completely irresponsible if you have children to give notice if you are not sure that you will be able to find somewhere else to go. I understand 30 days but 60 really?! Lastly, the snow. It snowed about 5 inches yesterday and they DID NOT PLOW. So when I went to go to work I got stuck on a sheet of ice. Which then made me late to work. I basically had to iceskate to my apartment last night because hardly any salt was put down. I have three children mind you so you can imagine how fun that was. I honestly could go on and on and on, but these are the more serious issues that I have had to deal with. In my honest opinion RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy to be moving out. Stoneridge has not provided us with a clean and safe living condition. I promised my rent to be paid on time and they promised me an enjoyable living experience... WHICH THEY HAVE NOT!!!! and don't bother calling corporate they aren't any help WHAT-SO-EVER!!!! I have never written a review this negative but stoneridge has left me no choice! PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU SIGN A LEASE HERE!!!!!!!!!
The management at this complex is absolutely ill-equipped to handle this property. Between having difficulty with their online payment system for over 3 months and then not even providing proper directions to set up new accounts it has been frustrating to say the least. I had to make special trips to the leasing office during their open hours and then wait for someone to provide me with a receipt for my check. I have read the reviews online and they are accurate. I have a small dog and in addition to paying a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit (what is the incentive for anyone NOT to trash the apartment) I also pay $50/month rent for my pet. The poo bag stations are frequently empty and the bags provided are so small it is no surprise people with larger animals do not pick up after them. For the amount I pay for my pet, this property should be well-kept, but there is dog poop on sidewalks and all over the grass. I wonder how many tenants do not even tell the management they have a pet because the cost is so ridiculous. Disappointed and cannot wait until my lease is up. If you have no standards - this is the place for you.
I moved in during January 2013 and will be moving out in two weeks (Thank GOD). The management team is friendly, but unfortunately, they don't seem to have a grasp of what property management is all about. It took over a week on two different occasions to fix a leaking toilet. On two occasions they adjusted the setting on the hot water heater to the point where I only had warm water. I can honestly say, maintenance personnel cannot or can barely read English. The final straw was today. I checked my bank account and quickly realized that in addition to my last rent payment, they had withdrawn an additional $2,448.89. Since it is afterhours, I just sent them an email advising them that I expect a refund check when I come home from work tomorrow. I am not holding my breath. Avoid this place if you can....
We have lived here for 5 years and each year the experience has gone from good to bad to plain awful. The folks that sit in the office usually look to be struck with annoyance or malaise (they use words like "no" and "sorry" quite often). Online bill pay and maintenance requests have been down for months. Everything is leaking... I would call but they rarely answer the phones... If you want to live with the regret of choosing this place... Welcome to our hell.
