Very disappointed in the service received from Von Klein. We were considering leasing from them, they told us we weren't allowed to tour any properties unless we gave them our SSN. We thought that was a little sketchy, but went in and gave it to them anyway. When we decided to use a different leasing agency, they refused to give us back our private information. We were told that our SSN now became their property because they were written on the applications. However, we never wanted to give the SSN until they told us we had to in order to see the property. In talking with one of the office ladies, she was extremely rude to my roommate and I and then continued to give us a fake name when we asked her what her name was so that we could talk to the manager about what she was telling us. Overall Von Klein was a terrible experience for my roommates and I. I would encourage everyone to look to other leasing companies as this one is very unprofessional.

Extremely unhelpful and downright rude when trying to discuss unpaid tenant charges (which we didn't actually owe due to their ineptitude). I was talked down to and disrespected. The book keeper was unhelpful and laughed when I asked a question, which she was never able to answer. Avoid at all costs. Would not recommend to anyone.

Condescending, unknowledgeable, unorganized, hostile, and unhelpful. Many students only deal with this management because of the number of properties they manage.

I would have given a 'Good' score for these reasons: Rent was reasonable, given the property (though the rent was pushed up at a reasonable price, by $25 or $50 every year, my complaint is there was no explanation for this -- higher taxes or what?), only a few problems with the maintenance of the place, but they were quick to respond and fix - although, the carpet in the place was horrible: far, far older than myself as a college aged person (and therefore should have been replaced way before I got there- but I didn't care about it because I'm low maintenance; I figure they would replace when I left). One or two very negative experiences with office staff (just plain rude and disrespectful- conflicts arose because of miscommunication on their part - "Well I'll be nice and not charge you a late fee this time" (when I wasn't even late according to what I was told by the other woman)... So why give them a poor-fair rating? My parents own an apartment building and have been renting it out to tenants for a few decades now; Growing up, I've helped them out by cleaning up after tenants if they didn't clean, so I know renter-grade-clean. When I left the apartment that Von Kline owns, I left it clean, spotless, did their whole checklist. So I move out. They kept virtually all of the security deposit and their explanation: no charges for damages but allegedly 6 hours worth of cleaning was needed. Now, now, that is not right; they kept $480... So, with 6 hours of cleaning, they paid their cleaners upwards of $80 an hour...? how very generous of them... Everyone I've known whose rented from them has thought of them unprofessional in one manner or another. Based on their reputation among students, if they didn't hold a monopoly on the campus rental properties, they would go out of business, just from their reputation alone.

I have experienced terrible service from this company. I am the parent of a student and we signed a lease with a move in date. The company did not have the apartment ready on the contract date and asked us to wait four extra days so they could clean the unit. We went back four days later and they gave us a key but forgot to mention that they had changed the locks; hence another trip to the rental office. We finally obtained the correct key only to enter the apartment and find it unclean, with broken and missing light fixtures, damaged baseboards, missing blinds and water damage in the bathroom. Inept staff with this company. Keep clear!!!!!!
